The Kentucky Derby is a famous horse race that takes place on the first Saturday of every May. At the party bets will be placed, delicious Southern-inspired cuisine will be consumed, and the race will be watched. To get everyone excited for the event, I&#039;m sending an invite with a horse-race collage. The collage evokes the momentum and speed of the race while showing the grace and strength of the horses. The text includes phrases that are commonly used at the track. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;To make an invite similar to the one seen here you will need the following supplies:
&lt;ul&gt;
&lt;li&gt;white cardstock&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;images of race horses, printed or ripped from the pages of a sports magazine&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;scissors&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;glue&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;computer and printer&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;span class=&quot;inline left&quot;&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
To assemble the invite:
&lt;ol&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Open a new document in Microsoft word. Drag a simple horse race image into the document. Insert a text box - with the line and fill removed - on top of the image. Write the details to the party in the text box. I used the font Ayuthaya in size 10 bold to write the following message:&lt;br /&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Print out on plain paper and check for mistakes. Once satisfied with the text and look of the invite, print on the white cardstock. Cut down to size.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Cut out single shapes from the horse-race images. Use these to create a layered collage on the back of the invite. Trim off any excess.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Slide into an envelope and send.&lt;/li&gt;

&lt;p&gt;1 pound medium asparagus&lt;br /&gt;
1/3 cup plus 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil&lt;br /&gt;

1 1/2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice&lt;br /&gt;
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard&lt;br /&gt;
10 ounces mixed spring lettuces&lt;br /&gt;
One 1 1/2-ounce piece of Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese, shaved into curls with a vegetable peeler

&lt;ol&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Preheat the oven to 450°.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;On a rimmed baking sheet, toss the asparagus with 1 tablespoon of the oil and the lemon zest and season with salt and pepper. Roast the asparagus for about 8 minutes, until just tender and the tips begin to turn brown.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;In a small bowl, whisk the lemon juice with the mustard and the remaining 1/3 cup of olive oil. Season with salt and pepper.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;In a large bowl, toss the lettuces with all but 2 tablespoons of the dressing. Arrange the salad on plates and top with the roasted asparagus and cheese curls. Drizzle the remaining dressing over the asparagus and serve.&lt;/li&gt;

&lt;li&gt;Cook shrimp: melt butter in a large skillet. Add garlic and cook, stirring 30 seconds. Add shrimp and cook until opaque, 1 1/2 minutes per side. Transfer shrimp to a medium bowl; set aside.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Prepare sauce: stir flour into remaining butter in skillet that shrimp was cooked in.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Cook, stirring occasionally, until thickened and medium-tan in color, 5 to 10 minutes. Whisk in chicken stock and cream; let cook, whisking constantly, 2 minutes. Whisk in Worcestershire sauce and hot sauce; set aside.&lt;/li&gt;
