Taco Tuesday promos are, in my opinion, the best thing to ever happen to Tuesday, an otherwise uneventful day of the week. And for no apparent reason, fast-food chain Jack in the Box wants to get in on the action with its own version. Today only, print out this coupon, bring it into a store near you, and walk away with two free tacos - no purchase necessary.

Although I haven't been there since trying the chain's cheesy macaroni bites last year, I'm thinking tonight I'll head over to my local Jack to score a deuce. Will you do the same?

Jack Celebrates Coming Out of Coma With Free Food

Lately fast food chain Jack in the Box has been getting a lot of publicity. First there was the ad campaign - that debuted at the Super Bowl - in which its brand's fictitious face, Jack, was hit by a bus. Although Jack lies in a coma, the company asked consumers to show their support by enjoying free curly fries and free tacos. Now, Jack's come out of his coma and naturally to celebrate, the chain is giving away fast food, again. All day tomorrow, Tuesday March 10, you can score a free small fry (natural cut or seasoned curly) and fountain drink of your choice. To obtain the food, you'll need to print this coupon. Although Jack is out of his coma, he has yet to speak publicly about his new logo.

While I'm always a fan of free food, all these Jack in the Box giveaways are getting out of control! Will you take advantage of the deal?

New Jack in the Box Logo: Love It or Hate It?

Jack in the Box has done a lot to beef up its marketing efforts as of late. In addition to its free food giveaways and viral "Hang in There Jack" campaign, the fast food chain has also been quietly testing a new logo at locations near its San Diego headquarters.

I'm happy that designers retained the bright red box, and I think the cursive script gives the logo a more contemporary feel. But I agree with design blog Under Consideration, which points out that the rest of the logo has a "needlessly techie feel." What's your two cents?

Free Food Alert: Tacos at Jack in the Box, Sub at Quizno's

Jack in the Box really wants your support: The fast-food chain's latest campaign features its fictitious CEO "Jack Box" comatose after being struck by a bus. Last week, it asked fans to "show support for Jack" with a coupon for free curly fries. Now, it's asking diners to do the same with a coupon for two free tacos, good today only. To score two free tacos, simply bring in this coupon.

Possibly piggybacking on the success of Jack in the Box, sandwich chain Quizno's is also offering free fare with its Million Sub Giveaway. To land a free toasted sub, simply register on the company's website. I may very well be headed to Quizno's for lunch. What about you - will you hit up these offers?

With New Menu Items, Burger King Hopes to Add Value

Despite the soaring cost of food prices, fast-food chain Burger King announced that it will be adding two petite-sized, lower-cost items priced at $1.39: the Cheesy Bacon BK Wrapper and the Spicy Chicken BK Wrapper.

Burger King is attempting this strategy in a frenzied fast-food climate, as the industry is struggling to balance rising costs of food with value-added items. Fast-food companies such as McDonald's have had a difficult time keeping value items under the traditional $1 mark. Earlier this year, Burger King pulled a test for a double cheeseburger on its value menu for $1, and Jack in the Box just announced a new rollout of pita snacks, or "snack-sized wrap-style sandwiches" for $1.99.

I'm not sure that these tactics will be enough to excel in the current economic environment, but perhaps these changes will allow all of the fast-food chains to gain back some market share. What do you think?

Do You Eat Fast Food?

When we heard about the newest addition to the Jack in the Box breakfast menu, some of us at the office got into a heated discussion. I was completely shocked to hear that DearSugar rarely eats fast food and has never been to a Taco Bell in her life!

I, on the other hand, can let loose and enjoy a drive-thru burger every now and then, especially when a late-night craving strikes.

What's your opinion on fast food? Are you willing to eat it?

Jack in the Box Expands Breakfast Menu

Jack in the Box has announced its plan to jump on the fast-food breakfast bandwagon with its new Breakfast Bowl, an entire, portable meal. A mix of eggs, hash browns, cheese, peppers, and meat, the dish is a "Sunday brunchworthy meal" to be "enjoyed on a weekday schedule." Jack in the Box hopes to satisfy consumers' need for a hearty breakfast on the go.

Of the fast-food giants, currently McDonald's has the highest amount of breakfast sales. Only time will tell if Jack in the Box's Breakfast Bowls will become as popular as the Egg McMuffin. In other breakfast news, Denny's will compete with the Breakfast Bowls with its new to-go meal that involves a two-tier takeout container filled with bacon, eggs, and pancakes.
