Last week at the market, I spotted some New Zealand kiwis for a good price. I know they're not local and organic, but they simply looked too plump and verdant to pass up, so I bought a ton. And, when life handed me a bunch of kiwis, what did I do?

A cool and refreshing cocktail comes to mind whenever I hear the words Memorial Day, and this delicious kiwi lime drink is perfect for all types of Memorial Day barbecues. The recipe, which combines fresh chunks of kiwi, minced ginger, simple syrup, lime juice, and ginger ale, is nonalcoholic. However, vodka, gin, or a light rum can easily be added.

Even though winter is hitting many of us hard, sometimes a frosty treat really hits the spot; especially when it's made with fresh fruit. That's why this kiwi sorbet has caught my attention. I'm going to pull the covers up, turn the heater on and indulge!

Last year I was at my local Trader Joe's when I noticed containers of something called "kiwi grapes." I'd never heard of such a thing, so naturally I picked them up. They were small grape-sized fruits which were delicious and tart, sort of like regular kiwi, but sweeter and with a smooth, edible skin.

So far, in our journey through food-inspired jewelry, we've gone from apple bobby pins to junk food charms, and today we'll have a look at the letters K through O. Regardless of whether or not we're in the midst of a food revolution, it's undeniable that over the last couple of years, cuisine highlighting fresh-picked produce has gained major ground. In fact, the principles of seasonality and slow food aren't just being applied to food. They're also key in what The New York Times calls the "farm-to-glass movement," where drinks are driven by produce at the peak of the season.

This contraption was created by New Zealander Joseph Herscher, who is known for his other Rube Goldberg-style machine, the chocolate egg creamer.
