This week's bento box comes from Bento Yum. It has super cute accouterments, but I love it because it shows that a bento box doesn't have to be an Asian meal. This time it's a Mexican meatloaf and a baked potato. I know I'd love to open my lunch box up to that!

I found this week's bento from the folks at Craft. They've discovered one of the most adorable Halloween edibles around. Created by Zakka Life, this Halloween Bento definitely puts me in a festive mood. I love the seaweed bats and lemon moon! So creative!

Free Food Alert: Tacos at Jack in the Box, Sub at Quizno's

Jack in the Box really wants your support: The fast-food chain's latest campaign features its fictitious CEO "Jack Box" comatose after being struck by a bus. Last week, it asked fans to "show support for Jack" with a coupon for free curly fries. Now, it's asking diners to do the same with a coupon for two free tacos, good today only. To score two free tacos, simply bring in this coupon.

Possibly piggybacking on the success of Jack in the Box, sandwich chain Quizno's is also offering free fare with its Million Sub Giveaway. To land a free toasted sub, simply register on the company's website. I may very well be headed to Quizno's for lunch. What about you - will you hit up these offers?

Come Party With Me: Bedazzle Bonanza - Invite

Some people may think a bad economy is not a very good time to host a party; however, FabSugar and I disagree. Now, more than ever, is the perfect time to gather up a group of friends and host an affordable get-together. That's why were throwing a Bedazzling bonanza. We'll supply the sparkling snacks and rhinestones, and everyone invited will bring an item (t-shirt, canvas tote, belt, headband) to Bedazzle. A Sunday afternoon is ideal for this sort of crafty party because it's after lunch, so only small nibbles are necessary, and on a work night - meaning no one will have a desire to drink heavily. All week, I'll be sharing the details of our party with you. Use them to throw your own fabulously creative event.

If you don't have a Bedazzler, consider a painting party, a knitting soirée, or cooking class. Save money and time by sending the invites through email, Facebook, or evite. To learn how I made the invite seen here, read more.

Advertising Advances May Change Your Food Decisions

Recently grocers and restaurant chains have started to employ a sophisticated type of digital advertising. The videos and images influence a shopper's decisions as they browse supermarket aisles or wait in line to pay. At select Dunkin' Donuts in New York, people who order coffee in the morning see ads promoting breakfast items at the register. Then while they wait for their orders, the television screens show different images that encourage the customer to return for lunch. In Germany, grocer Metro Extra uses digital screens to sway a shopper. Certain goods have special tags attached to them, so when you grab a box of Kellogg's Frosted Flakes, the eye-level screen changes its message to display a sale price for, say, Wheaties.

At a time when shoppers are more cautious about how they spend their money, this could give certain food companies an edge. What do you think: Is this new advertising scheme brilliant, or does the technology to increase impulse buys creep you out?

Domino's Pizza To Do Sandwiches

Last week Jack in the Box expanded their breakfast menu to include brunch bowls, and this week Domino's Pizza has announced plans to introduce submarine sandwiches. The pizza delivery chain will offer four different kinds of baked sandwiches, including a Chicken Bacon Ranch sandwich and a Philly Cheese Steak sandwich. The $4.99 sandwiches will be delivered with or without a pizza order.With the sandwiches, which are available to order beginning on Aug. 25, Domino's hopes to increase lunch sales. Last Spring, Pizza Hut added pasta to their menu, so it's no surprise that Domino's is looking for other ways to grow profits. What do you think about the expansion? Will you try Domino's sandwiches?
