After reading the comments on a recent M&M's quiz, I decided it was high time that I sample the new limited-edition Coconut M&M's from Mars.

Once a beloved snack of mine, I was around the candies so much in a former life that I ate myself sick of them. But these could be a different story. "Coconut M&M's? That's crazy!" a coworker said in passing. Indeed, it was. Upon glancing at the package, which featured the sultry Green M&M basking in the sun with a flower behind her ear, I immediately envisioned candy-covered morsels filled with flaky, sweet coconut, Mounds style. Mars Real Chocolate Relief Act Means Free Candy For You

Your Fridays just got a little sweeter. Mars Snackfood is giving away a quarter of a million full-size packages of chocolate on its Free Chocolate Fridays. As part of the brand's Real Chocolate Relief Act, customers are encouraged to visit RealChocolate.com, where, every Friday through the end of September, the first 250,000 consumers can download a coupon for a full-size package of Twix, Dove, 3 Musketeers, Snickers, Milky Way, or M&Ms.

In response to overwhelming demand the first week, today the company is making an exception to give away free chocolate to the first 500,000 visitors. The Mars Real Chocolate Relief Act is part of a new campaign to highlight its chocolate made with 100 percent cocoa butter.

The strategy takes a jab at archrival Hershey's for having made the switch to cheaper ingredients: "Without cocoa butter, chocolate simply is not chocolate. Some companies use artificial ingredients to make their chocolate sweeter or because it's cheaper. Know that with Mars, there's no substitute for cocoa butter." The promotion even includes tips on how to spot "fake" chocolate.

Careful, Consumption May Result in Elevated Romance Levels

I was at the drugstore the other day when I noticed an M&Ms display near the front counter. It caught my eye because the entire display was green: the packaging, the M&Ms, the display, everything. Once it had my attention, it was then the smaller print on the display made me chuckle:

I'm not sure where the myth comes from, but I definitely remember it from my childhood. According to urban legend, the green ones carry a mythical aphrodisiac-like quality. I guess it was only a matter of time before Mars, the maker of M&Ms, started making money off it. They've been playing it up in commercials for years, but now they're actually offering entire bags of the stuff. So forget red and pink for Valentine's Day; this year it's all about the green.

The Battle of The Pink Candy

As we all know, limited edition candy is all the rage these days. For a while everything came with a coating of dark chocolate or a layer of creamy peanut butter. However right now, the trend seems to be the addition of fruit flavors and pink hues.

This weekend I had the opportunity to try both the limited edition Razzberry M&Ms that I told you about a few weeks ago, as well as the new-ish Strawberry Milkshake flavored Whoppers. The limited edition M&Ms were definitely the preferred option, but to check out what I thought of each, read more

The packaging on the Razzberry M&Ms is a fun, well downright girly, purple with pink accents, and upon opening it there is definitely a slight artificial raspberry smell. Each M&M is magenta colored and initially I thought the flavor was in the candy shell, but after eating several I realized it was actually in the chocolate. Despite how clichéd the raspberry/chocolate combination is, it was actually quite tasty. I honestly enjoyed eating them and hope they introduce a dark chocolate flavor.

Unfortunately, I can't say the same for the Strawberry Whoppers. Whoppers are generally chocolate covered malt balls, but this edition contains no chocolate. Instead they're malt balls wrapped in a strawberry-flavored white chocolate-ish coating. In theory it's a great idea, but in execution it fails due to the fact that the strawberry coating is ridiculously waxy. After eating a handful my teeth felt laminated and weird. Apparently at Easter they sell a version with a candy shell and I'm pretty positive it might be just what it needs to save it.

So verdict? Hunt down the M&Ms (they're only available for six weeks) and ignore the Strawberry Whoppers until Easter. Oh and stay tuned, I'm sure these won't be the the only limited edition fruit flavored candies.

Razzmatazz! M&Ms Launches a Raspberry Flavored Candy

Raspberries always seem to get paired with chocolate, so when I heard that M&Ms was releasing a limited edition "RaZZberry" flavor, I immediately wondered why it hadn't been done before. The Razzes - as I like to call them - are M&Ms first-ever nationwide fruit-flavor and will only be available for six weeks. I haven't seen the bright pink packages yet, but you should be able to find them in convenience stores, drug stores, gas stations, etc. I'm also not sure if it's the chocolate that's fruit flavored, or the shell. If anyone can get their hands on them, please be sure to let us know!
