Jamie Oliver, UK celebrity chef and
gastrosexual, has
announced the launch of his own bimonthly glossy, which will hit shelves this Thursday. The cooking star promises that his publication, aptly titled Jamie Magazine, won't be "yet another cooking mag," but will offer readers a "more personal relationship" with the man who is Jamie Oliver. According to editor Andy Harris, the magazine should make readers feel as if they are "being invited round to Jamie's house."

Is it just me, or does the phrase "as grooved as his horn" somehow manage to make both golf and saxophone playing sound dirty?

Style magazine
Dazed and Confused is not letting the credit crunch affect its fashion. The magazine has created a very colourful issue for December celebrating young, upcoming design talent. Fashion editor Katie Shillingford explained, "Our fashion horizon is positive and thriving, despite the panic that the credit crunch has inflicted on the industry.

Last month,
we reviewed the "test" edition of
Food Network's eponymous magazine, and we didn't think it broke new ground. But apparently its publisher does:
Hearst Corporation has decided to give the magazine the
official go-ahead. Said Hearst VP Alec Casey:
We have had a great initial response to the first test issue, and feel confident that this magazine will resonate with consumers.

Digital editions of magazines are nothing new, although it feels pretty momentous to hear that prestigious magazine
The New Yorker is launching its digital version, with all of the content being made free to its print subscribers.
Here's the thing — I'm a magazine junkie. I subscribe to so many magazines, I can barely get through them all in a month.

On one hand, it feels like the end of an era now that
Rolling Stone magazine is shrinking from its oversize format down to a "regular"-sized magazine, starting with the Oct. 30 issue. On the other hand, a smaller mag is easier to carry around and might be easier to read in general.

A month ago, we reported that
Food Network was launching
its own magazine on Oct. 14. Well, yesterday, we got our hands on the premiere issue of Food Network Magazine.

I heart magazines. I heart and star and rainbow and unicorn them. Especially
shelter magazines.
