Since Sex and the City comes out in two days, I thought it was the perfect time to shop for martini glasses. To enjoy cosmopolitans and flirtinis in the proper servingware, you headed off to market in search of new martini glasses. You looked for chic, stylish glasses that would be found in the hands of Carrie, Samantha, Miranda, and Charlotte. While the leopard-print glasses are stunning and would be perfect for a jungle-themed fete, I might get sick of the print.

Which Designer Glass Will Win?

If you love a sleek, but unique martini glass, you'll probably be interested in the Bombay Sapphire 2008 Designer Glass Competition. It's an annual, international event held in London. Right now the folks at Bombay Sapphire US are looking for a glass to represent the United States. They have narrowed the field to 10 finalists and need your help choosing one. So who are you going to vote for? A few of my faves are above, but there are definitely some unique glasses in the running! Voting ends May 26 and the winner will be announced on June 5.

African Safari Martini Glass: Love It or Hate It?

I was flipping through a catalog and stumbled across these African Safari Martini Glasses ($42 each). Each one is hand crafted in South Africa and would make a great gift for the safari lover in your life. Having said that, I just can't get behind these. I think they're a little on the tacky side, and question how easy it would be to hold them. Especially the rhino, that one looks downright dangerous. What do you think? Would you buy them?

My grandfather is so unbelievably cool - think Austin Powers meets Frank Sinatra - that gift shopping for him is incredibly fun. Zipper Martini Glasses: Love It Or Hate It?

I ran across these glasses when I was browsing for Yum Market Finds, they were found by reader almost famous. She points out that women love creative things and that although these wouldn't be used on a daily basis, whipping them out for that special someone during an intimate dinner could be a very inticing message. I personally hate these glasses, I think they are tacky and totally not worth the $90 price tag. They also come in wine glasses which I hate even more than the bachelorette party-ish martini glasses. Do you agree?

To me this one is a no brainer. My favorite cocktail is a vodka martini, so chic little martini glasses are never far from my reach. I like the classic, sleek look of the triangular yet functional glass. A complete bar will have martini glasses because you can serve tons of different drinks in them, not just the gin or vodka martini. You know I am a fan of specialty cocktails served in specialty glasses. Like the right outfit for a certain occasion, the right glass is necessary for a certain drink. Not just for aesthetic appeal, but because the drink actually tastes different, better. With that said, I ran across some pretty cool cocktail glasses recently in the Yum Market on TeamSugar. Take this beautiful blue champagne glass for example. I take one look at it and I instantly crave a bellini or mimosa. I wonder if atkoester thought the same thing when she found this flute?
