When I think of food on a stick, I think of state fairs, corn dogs and Summer. That's why I'm a bit confused on how an early day in Spring became Something-on-a-Stick Day. But hey, I like food-on-a-stick, so I'll play along.

Hoping to squeeze in a few more food festivals while Summer's still going strong? This week's the opportune time, whether you want to learn how to make your own pit barbecue and ice cream — or simply want to enjoy an assortment of top microbrews. With Mardi Gras parades and festivals going on today across the country and a handful of restaurant weeks still going strong, this week's a great time to pay a visit to your favorite food events: If you live anywhere nearby, celebrate dungeness crab season in Northern California, as well as the beginning of Florida's strawberry season. And if you're attending the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition, perhaps I'll see you there!
Got any fine food events that you see left off this list?

The closing stores are company-operated stand alone locations; no bookstore, super market, or airport Starbucks will be shuttered.

Eating together as a family was always a priority for my parents. My siblings and I would sit down, at the same time, to enjoy dinner as often as our busy schedules permitted. Usually, my mom and dad made us turn off the TV in an effort to get us focusing on the food and on the family.

If you've purchased a can of Campbell's Chunky Baked Potato with Cheddar and Bacon Bits, you may want to look at the UPC number and make sure it wasn't one of the cans they're recalling. Don't worry, it's not due to salmonella or E.coli, or anything like that, but they are dangerous to consume as they may contain pieces of hard plastic. Campbell's is voluntarily recalling the soup as three consumers have reported minor injuries in and around the mouth.
