Taste Worth Dying For?

The other day FitSugar tipped me off to this new restaurant in Tempe, Arizona. Imagine you head over to your local burger joint and are greeted by a bunch of "hot nurses." Okay, to some this is a dream come true, to others a grotesque degradation to women. If you fall into the latter, they you may want to avoid the Heart Attack Grill in Tempe, Arizona. With a menu that offers the "Quadruple Bypass Burger" and "Flatliner Fries" (deep fried in pure lard), you may find yourself wishing those "nurses" held real nursing credentials.

What do you think, have the folks at Heart Attack Grill gone to far?

Hello Nurse! Is Our Table Ready?

In marketing terms, a trend can't be declared until there is at least three of the same thing. Well, third times a charm and I am officially declaring waitresses dressed as "hot nurses" a trend. Back in December I told you about the Heart Attack Grill in Arizona - and now I can tell you about two new places in Asia.

First there's the hospital-themed restaurant-bar in Tapei, D.S. Music Restaurant, where customers can sit around a hospital bed and order "medicine" from a menu and have it drip into their glasses from a vat suspended from the ceiling.

Second is a bar in Shenzhen (south China) where the bartenders are dressed as nurses and serve wine and drinks from syringes and test tubes.

Those two places, combined with the Heart Attack Grill, definitely equal a trend. What's next? Barmacy? Oh wait, there used to be one of those in New York, not to mention Damien Hirst's defunct fancy Pharmacy in London. Maybe the medical trend is just coming back?

Let's Dish: What Foods Do You Eat When You're Sick?

There's a nasty cold going around the Sugar office, which makes me want to whip up a big vat of chicken noodle soup. Though honestly, chicken soup isn't something I crave when I'm sick - unless I have a stomach flu, in which case, chicken broth is basically all I can eat.

Assuming you can keep food down and you're not nursing a hangover, what comforting foods do you use to defeat a cold or get over an illness?

Tom Colicchio Makes a Bloody Good Drink

While I rang in the season premiere of True Blood with a sublime red velvet cookie sandwich, Tom Colicchio was inspiring fans of the show to get in the kitchen as well.

Top Chef's head judge is no newbie to plugging drinks - witness his Diet Coke commercial spot. But on this segment of "The Perspective" with Victoria Davis, he goes above and beyond, making a beverage for fictitious, blood-sucking friends: "I have a few friends that are vampires, and I've had this issue. We go out, and I'm sitting there through appetizer, and entree, and dessert, and they're just kind of nursing a TruBlood," he says. See the video when you read more.

Watch the clip of the celebrated chef below, making a warm "meal in a glass" with sugar snap peas, chicken broth, fennel, favas, spring onions, and beet juice. Would you try making this? Do you find this segment as ridiculous and cheesy as I do?

Always a Gentleman, Petrozza Bows Out Gracefully

Many of you were disappointed by the outcome of the Hell's Kitchen season finale. Gordon Ramsay chose the young, inexperienced blonde over the seasoned, bearded male. I wasn't surprised by his decision, but I was bummed for Petrozza. Over the course of the fifteen episodes, he's the one character who I actually admired and enjoyed. Yesterday morning I spoke with the optimistic caterer, who chatted with me while he sat on his front porch nursing a soda. To see what he had to say, read more.

PartySugar: How did it feel to be the last person eliminated?
Petrozza: You know what, I feel happy and a little tired. Would I have rather won? Yeah, I would be lying if I didn't say I wanted to win. I'm accepting it. I like where I am. I love my job and my family. There are a lot of awesome opportunities out there for me and I'll find something interesting to do.
PartySugar: What was it like working for Ramsay?
Petrozza: At the beginning, working for Gordon sucked. I can understand how the people who got kicked off early would have nothing nice to say. They probably see him as a butthead in the kitchen. But, once you know the guy and you know yourself, you see he is a decent person. He's not a total moron, you get to appreciate him. He's a cool guy, with a big heart. He's a maniac in the kitchen, but he's a good man.

PartySugar: At the end of the episode, Ramsay grabbed you and said something. What did he tell you?
Petrozza: He said, "it's going to be okay Petrozza" and I said, "I'm okay, I'm okay." I was happy to be done with the challenge of HK. I ran with the pack and ended up out in front, right behind the winner. It sucks a little, but I'm very happy with the people I met along the way. Everybody was super cool and super nice to me.

PartySugar: Is there anything you would have done differently?
Petrozza: They didn't show it on last night's episode, but I would have cooked my ducks less. I would have done the lobster strudel differently. I would have not had Jen on that station, although I think she would have screwed me wherever she was. Not consciously, but she can't change herself, she can't help herself. I'm not using her as an excuse to why I didn't win. But I'm happy, being on HK gave me more confidence. My style of cooking has taken a little bit of a turn. Now I'm more adventurous when pairing foods. I learned that what's good for the soul is good for the heart and good for the career.

PartySugar: A lot of people think you have a great heart. What's your response to this?
Petrozza: I'm very fortunate. I have a good family, good parents, good people around me all the time. I'm blessed to be thought of in that way. Hopefully I showed everyone that you don't have to be a backstabber, you don't have to be sneaky to get far in the game.

Sin City Opens Its Hottest Coffee House

Las Vegas, the home town of sex and sin, has a new place to grab a cup of coffee. While the rest of us have to head to a place where the baristas are fully-clothed, the fine folks of Las Vegas can head to Sexxpresso, an erotic coffee shop where the baristas are in lingerie. Instead of settling for small, medium and large drink sizes, the "Bodacious Baristas" will fill cup sizes A, B or DD. The drinks also have ridiculous names like Erotic Pleasure (White Chocolate Mocha), Wet Dream (Caramel Macchiato) and Porn Star (Chocolate Covered Cherry Latte).

I suppose if there is a restaurant with "hot nurses" trend, then why can't there be a trend of coffee stands with ladies in lingerie? In fact, there are other erotic coffee shops in Seattle.

Personally I think it's horribly tacky and could never imagine ordering a DD Cup of Erotic Pleasure. But then again, I don't think I'm in their target demographic...

Happy Hour: The Lucky Pears Faux-jito

A little while back we gave you a sampling of pear vodka and if you haven't tasted it yet, what are you waiting for? Pear vodka is everywhere, it's the vodka to mix in your specialty drinks. Being that St. Patty's is tomorrow I have the perfect green, mint infused cocktail recipe. This is an exclusive concoction being served tomorrow at the St. Patrick's Day celebration at Nurse Bettie in New York City. The drink is an interesting interpretation of a mojito with a blend of the vodka, midori sour, and white grape juice. Sound like a refreshing alternative to drinking beer? The Lucky Pears Faux-jito
From Nurse Bettie

1¾ oz pear vodka (recommended: Absolut)
¼ oz midori liqueur
2 oz white grape juice
½ oz lime juice
4 -6 mint leaves
1 spoonful of (light) brown sugar

Place mint, lime juice, and brown sugar in a large glass.

Muddle to release essence of mint and dissolve sugar.

Fill glass with ice.
In a cocktail shaker combine the vodka, midori, and grape juice. Shake to mix.
Strain into prepared glass. Stir to combine and swirl mint leaves chicly around the glass.

Makes 1 cocktail.
