I absolutely adore oatmeal cookies — as long as those pesky raisins stay the heck out of them. Strangely enough, it's really difficult to find oatmeal cookies without them. So, I've done us a favor and rounded up 15 raisin-less oatmeal cookies recipes.

Oatmeal cookies may be old-fashioned, but their homey goodness will never grow old. Many grandmothers pass the recipes down from generation to generation, and they are fabulous chewy, crisp, fresh from the oven or a few days old. The best accompaniment to an oatmeal cookie — besides a bear hug from grandma — is a large glass of cold milk.

In October of last year, Mother's unexpectedly closed its doors. Cookie lovers everywhere mourned the loss with farewell t-shirts and by raiding supermarkets for the last of the brand's cookies.

The economy continues to tumble, yet there's no end in sight when it comes to the pattern of reviving extinguished store-bought cookie brands. Following the rebirth of Mother's cookies by Kellogg's, snack company Lance is bailing out Archway, the sister company to Mother's that also collapsed this October. Before its demise, Archway was known nationwide for its soft-batch cookies in various flavors such as oatmeal and nougat.
