Not all of you were loving my last
vegetarian sandwich, so I thought I'd try again with a recipe inspired by a recent trip to San Francisco's (appropriately named)
Panini. Perfectly pressed in a warm panini grill, this sandwich taught me several lessons about making smushed sammies. First, I never think to put avocado on a hot sandwich, but it held up well in the heat and added a deliciously creamy texture.

These little
toaster bags quickly turn your toaster into a sandwich maker. While I think it's a creative concept, I'm also rather skeptical: How would a whole sandwich fit into a one-slice toaster? Wouldn't the melted cheese settle at the bottom of the bag?

When it comes to
sandwiches — or anything, really — it's hard to go wrong with
melted cheese and tomato. Add a few leaves of fresh arugula and chicken cooked to moist perfection on an outdoor grill, and you've got a hot sandwich that showcases the best flavors of the warm months.
I enjoyed this melted panini on a recent weekend away with friends, where the house we rented handily had a panini maker.

Fresh Italian flavors inspire my
Summer solstice dinner party menu. To maximize time spent with guests, all of the food can be made in advance or cooked outdoors on the grill. A buffet of salumi, flatbreads, olives, and store bought spreads will await my guests.

There is nothing quite as comforting as a bowl of soup and a
grilled cheese sandwich. The classic pairing is tomato soup with American cheese, but I think this
green pea soup with cheddar scallion grilled cheese sounds delicious, modern, and perfect for spring. — Vicarious Foodie

If you love turkey sandwiches, but are stuck in a boring recipe rut, consider making these scrumptious sandwiches. Spicy pepper turkey is layered with walnuts and spinach. Both a bruschetta topping and mayonnaise are slathered on the bread.

Welcome back to
'Wich of the Week, where every Wednesday I'll feature a different sandwich I've eaten or prepared at home, complete with photos and instructions on how to recreate it.
This week, I've made a variation on panini, which in Italian means "little bread." In the US, a panini sandwich can be pretty sizable, and the warm, melted delicacies are usually pressed and cooked on a grill.

Going back to work after the holidays is never an easy task. To ease some of the stress, treat yourself to a simple and delicious pressed sandwich for dinner. Pick up the fig jam, fresh bread, and cooked chicken breast from your local market.

I make dinner sandwiches at least once a week because there are endless varieties and they come together quickly. I'm always looking for new ways to combine bread, vegetables, meats, and cheese, so imagine how ecstatic I was when I discovered this recipe for Spanish grilled sandwiches. Who knew that two of my favorite things — Spain and sandwiches — could come together in such a scrumptious way?
