If you're planning on cooking with peaches (like I did with the peach puzzle), you'll want to peel them first. Cooking causes the skin to become rough and the texture could be unappetizing in pies, etc. However peeling peaches seems like an messy task.

The worst part of peeling vegetables is the clean up. I used to peel them over the sink and then scoop everything up afterwards. It was a slimy sensation that I decided I could live without.

When I was little, I had no idea shrimp weren't readily available in their edible state. Sure, I knew you had to cook them, but I didn't realize that the heads, shells, and intestines were normally removed before consumption. I learned later, as a 20-year-old, how to properly peel the delicious shellfish.

Another Wednesday night has come and gone and with it the latest episode of Top Chef Vegas. The show took a more serious turn as the chefs prepared dishes for the US Air Force. It was the first time we saw a cheftestant not cook, but act as executive chef making sure the kitchen ran smoothly.

While shopping at Berkeley Bowl, I came across the bargain section of fresh produce. Most of the time I won't glance at this section, but a two-pound bag of ripe red tomatoes caught my eye. At only $0.99 per bag, I couldn't pass them up since I had a hankering for a bowl of fresh tomato soup.

I absolutely adore using roasted red peppers to add a gourmet touch to sandwiches, salads, and all sorts of entrees. I already gave you a primer on how to roast red peppers, but lately I've been using this easy tip for peeling them that I wanted to share.
You can roast peppers several different ways: I prefer to coat mine lightly with olive oil and blacken them in the broiler for five to 10 minutes.

When making quick and simple dinners, it's important to look to the grocery store for help. While everyone is familiar with using rotisserie chicken, cooked, peeled, and deveined shrimp should also become a staple of your weeknight pantry.
