Do You Go to the Opera?

According to Variety, composer Philip Glass is creating an opera about Walt Disney. The story "imagines the last months of Disney as seen through the eyes of a fictional Austrian cartoonist who worked for him."

I seriously cannot wait to see what the heck this opera looks like.

What do you think of the opera in general? Do you ever go? Or are you not an opera person?

Come Party With Me: Tea Party - Music

I'm a little tea pot short and stout, here is my handle here is my spout, when I get all steamed up hear me shout, tip me over and pour me out. A preschool song may not be the best selection for the chic afternoon tea party I am hosting tomorrow, but it certainly fits the theme. The floral invitations have been sent, the sweet and savory baked goods have been prepared, my patio is the perfect picture of spring in full bloom and all I have to do is brew the tea and hit play on the stereo. Only I haven't compiled a playlist... it's a party where the conversation is more important than the music, so a soothing, relaxing, gentle background noise is what I am looking for. When I was younger I spent many an hour in front of a mirror in a leotard and tights as a ballet dancer. I enjoyed listening to classical music in ballet class and still take pleasure from listening to it today. Contemporary classical is what I'm after here, the whole concept behind this event is to take the stuffy idea of a tea party and make it modern for today's hostess with the mostess. Anything by composer Philip Glass is always great (you may not know him, but he does the soundtracks for movies like The Illusionist and The Hours) and you can't go wrong with his solo piano music. The Most Relaxing Classical Music in the Universe is another wonderful option. BuzzSugar suggested putting several soundtracks like the music from The Piano and Pan's Labyrinth into the disc changer and hitting random. Gwyneth Paltrow Sings Cee-Lo For Prince Philip and Says, "Please Don't Tell the Queen!"

Gwyneth Paltrow isn't just a patron of London's reopened Arts Club - she's also part of the entertainment! After Gwyneth and Cameron Diaz toasted their relaunch, it was time for a few glasses of red wine and speeches. Gwyneth brought her drink to a podium in the middle of the restaurant section to say a few words, then Prince Philip, the Queen's 90-year-old husband, did the same. Prince Philip also unveiled a plaque commemorating the club's 148 existence. The group, which apparently included Prince William's good pal Guy Pelly too, then moved downstairs to the Club Nouveau. Mark Ronson was first onstage with his band the Knights Before, who used to work with Amy Winehouse. When his set was over, Mark sat down at a table and charmed both Cameron and Gwyneth. Gwyneth couldn't resist hopping onstage to belt out a few medleys, including a version of Cee-Lo Green's "F*ck You." Gwyneth reportedly looked at Prince Philip afterward and, considering the foul language in the lyrics, said, "Please don't tell the Queen!"
