The rambunctious holiday tradition of wearing green and guzzling beer is just a few days away. For most of us that means hitting the bars and drinking green beers, but wait! Do you think true Irish drink beer? No way, they drink Guinness (although, a friend was just telling me about an article stating that more Irish are drinking wine instead of beer, but that's a whole other story...)! And apparently they're not alone because 13 million pints of Guinness are poured across the planet, that's more than 150 pints every second!

So to ensure that your pint is poured just right, Guinness Brewmaster Fergal Murray has some great tips:

Use a clean, dry glass -- preferably an Imperial 20-ounce pint with branded logo

Hold the glass at a 45-degree angle and never allow the spout to touch the beer or glass

The Pour: Pull faucet down and allow beer to fill glass. You will see the surge commence

The Settle: Allow the nitrogen bubbles create the theater and wonderful surge event, creating the beautiful creamy head

The Top Up: The beer has settled (there is a distinct gap between dark liquid and head) and the glass is topped up slowly to create a domed effect with the head proud of the glass

The Presentation: Give the creation of the perfect pint to the adoring customer

Hopside Down Glasses: Love It or Hate It?

I can't lie, I love glassware. I enjoy everything from Moroccan tea glasses to oversize pint glasses to party glasses. However, when I saw these hopside down beer glasses, I immediately knew they would never become a part of my elaborate collection. The upside down bottle makes me think of a cow's udder that's ready to be milked! If you're a fan of kitschy kitchenware you'll probably get a kick out of them, but I do not. How about you?

Now that ~~single's independence day~~ Valentine's Day is finally over, we can focus on the more fabulous upcoming "holidays," like the Oscars, Mardi Gras, and St. Patrick's Day. I plan on doing a lot of entertaining in the next couple of weeks and each soiree will require the proper glasses. Rules of the House Glasses: Love It or Hate It?

Although I had mixed feelings about the beer bottle goblets, I love these rules of the house pint glasses. They are perfect for Super Bowl Sunday! Each glass states a different rule like no guest shall intercept another guest's seat and extra points for getting your own refills. I understand they aren't for everyone, but in the right place at the right time these glasses are fabulously fun! What do you think?

The Chillster: Love It or Hate It?

I'm all for doing my part to end global warming, but I only recently realized that I could do something to help end beer warming. After all, nothing tastes worst than the tepid taste of a lukewarm beer. Luckily someone has created the Chillster, a freezable glass that keeps a drink ice cold without any ice. The pint sized, scientifically designed vessel is made from shatterproof plastic and unlike other similar glasses, this one keeps the drink cold without making hands chilly. It's a great concept, but I'm just not going to stock up on Chillster glasses. What do you think about it?

Suck It Up! Get Instant Chocolate Milk From a Straw

A few months ago, I told you guys about straws that help flavor milk. We finally got our hands on some and wanted to let you know what we thought. The straws come in packs of six and are available in three flavors: banana, strawberry and chocolate. However, because today is National Chocolate Milk Day, we're going to focus on the chocolate.

I started off by taking a pint of milk and dividing into three cups. Then I put one straw into each cup. The straws are rather unique, they're a bit larger than normal straws and have three small openings on each end. The openings are big enough to allow milk to pass through, but small enough that the chocolate "beads" don't escape.

To be honest, I was expecting it to taste overly sweet and weird, but it was surprisingly good and rather interesting. There was no clumping powder or syrupy mess, instead all the chocolate remained in the straw. In fact, you might even say it was like a chocolate filter. As the milk passed through, it slowly dissolved the beads and created a flavor infusion. After several minutes of the straw in my glass, my milk had a very light brown hue, and eventually the beads dissolved completely.
