I'm more than a little bummed that the end of summer is only a few short days away. To shift the mood in my kitchen, and in my mind, I need some new fall placemats. The tropical placemats that sit on my table now just don't seem to fit anymore.

Wood Disk Placemat: Love It Or Hate It?

There's something about these Wood Disk Placemats that I find wonderfully striking. The symmetrical circles, and beautiful wooden tones are really alluring. However, they're sort of retro, in that weird trivet on your grandma's table sort of way, and I'm not sure I would actually want them in my house. What do you guys think of them?

With the days getting darker earlier, and the end of summer only a few short days away, I can't help but be a little depressed. Summer is my favorite season and I have a hard time watching it go. Retail therapy has always cheered me up, and I've decided I need some new fall placemats to shift the mood in my kitchen. Off To Market Recap: Everyday Table Setting

The table setting on my kitchen table changes with the seasons (and sometimes my mood!). It's easy to update your table's look by getting a new set of placemats. I have hosted quite a few impromptu dinner parties lately and my winter set is starting to show wear (oil/wine stains, etc) and tear, so I asked you to help me find a new tablescape. I want four wintery placemats in sober tones. You saved your placemats and centerpiece accessories in the Yum Market and tagged them with the keyword, Everyday Table Setting. Here's how I'll overhaul my table's look:

Rubialala's beautiful white mirrored placemat will serve as the new focal point of the table. At first I wanted to use these as the main placemats but realized it's too snowy white and will be best when placed in the center of my table.

On top of the white placemat, to finish up the centerpiece, I'll arrange 2-4 of these black candles that rubialala discovered (thanks for your help girl!). I really like the shorter, stubby ones because they won't prevent me from seeing my mom who sits across from me during dinner.

In front of the 4 chairs, I'll place the black and white patterned placemats that I found at Neiman Marcus. Throw in a beautiful vase filled with red roses and I'm finally ready for my next last minute dinner party.

Off To Market: Everyday Table Setting

The other day my sister was telling me about her best friend Erica's strange passion for placemats. My sister was discussing how it was kind of odd and wondered how someone could get so excited about placemats. I listened quietly for a moment before bursting out loudly, "I love placemats too!" My sister was baffled, but I explained that placemats are an excellent way to change the mood of your kitchen. I change my placemats several times a year and have a whole bunch of fun sets. Unfortunately my winter placemat set has gotten a lot of use already and some of the placemats have been soiled beyond repair. I need a new table setting and I need one soon, so help me find it!

It's off to market time and I'm in search of a set of four wintery placemats (save the pastels, florals, and bright colors for the spring and summer). I also need one more placemat, or a runner, to go in the center of my table. This one should not be a part of the set but should follow the color scheme. For example, currently I have a black leather placemat in the center and a set of four black and navy striped placemats in front of each chair. I usually like to have a centerpiece of candles on the middle placemat so be sure to keep your eyes peeled for a fun candle centerpiece too.
