What did you guys think of the latest episode of Top Chef? I thought it was a fun challenge, with a lot of interesting twists along the way. Incorporating Chicago's Second City Improv group was an intriguing way to liven up the challenge.

Now that I've moved to a new neighborhood, I've started shopping at a different grocery store, specifically the Whole Foods on Franklin and California in San Francisco. I've only been twice, but both times it was unbelievably crowded — so packed that I could hardly make my way through the aisles. When I asked the checker if it was always busy, he said, "Yes.

This week, I set out in search of dishes that would commemorate the Vancouver Games. Besides some Montréal items like poutine, I wasn't having much luck with Canadian-born dishes. Then I stumbled upon a specialty known as the Nanaimo bar.

The second season of Top Chef Masters is set to premiere on April 7 and Entertainment Weekly has revealed the lineup of participating chefs. Kelly Choi will continue to host and the judges, James Oseland, Gael Greene, and Jay Reyner, will be joined by Gail Simmons. There's also an exciting new cast of guest judges including Andrew Zimmerman, Hank Azaria, and Mekhi Phifer.

The year 2009 has been a busy one for Aarón Sánchez. The chef, who's known for his contemporary Latin cuisine, runs New York restaurants Paladar and Centrico, while racing against the clock on Food Network's Chefs vs. City.

Desperate Housewives star and successful restaurateur Eva Longoria is taking her eatery national. Longoria opened Beso, a Mexican restaurant in Hollywood, with chef Todd English back in 2007. The popular joint quickly became a celebrity hangout.

If you've got a hankering for a serving of Top Chef before Top Chef: Masters begins, you're in luck. Top Chef: The Tour 2 — the show's second national tour — will kick off its 22-city tour this Friday at the Flatiron Pedestrian Plaza in New York. Each stop, including a special visit to Churchill Downs on Kentucky Derby weekend, will feature two cheftestants hosting four interactive live shows with cooking demos and food tastings.

In Kansas City, some raccoon fur trappers are making a second killing off
raccoon meat. One coon, which feeds four to five, goes for anywhere between $3 and $7. And while the game isn't USDA inspected, some scientists are saying it's one of the healthiest meats to eat.

Yesterday I had the lovely opportunity of speaking with cookbook author and burger queen Katie Lee Joel over the phone. She was calling from New York City to set the record straight about her Burger Bash win. According to her critics, the Logan County Burger, which won fair and square, is not a burger at all, but rather a popular sandwich known as a patty melt.

The fifth season of the hit show Top Chef got off to an exciting start. One of the cheftestants was eliminated before the competition officially started and another cut his finger while peeling apples. Jean-Georges guest judged the New York City neighborhood-centric challenge.
