In the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving, I like to take inventory of my serving ware. I plan on doing a lot of entertaining between now and New Year's, and whether I'm plating up bite-sized appetizers or slicing pieces of roast chicken, I'm going to need a lot of serving trays and bowls.

With the weather warming up, I've turned my attention to alfresco entertaining. Last weekend, I suggested my guests and I grab our cocktails and appetizers and head out to the patio. There was a lot to carry and on my third trip back to the kitchen, I couldn't help but wonder why I don't own a stylish serving tray? I asked you to help me find one. Off to Market: Casserole Dish

Last week I decided to make lasagna. My sausage tomato sauce was done, the cheese was grated, and the pasta ready, when I realized I don't own a large casserole dish! I ended up having to make the lasagna in two pie dishes. To avoid this situation in the future, I need to invest in a casserole dish. Let's head off to market in search of large, oven- and dishwasher-safe serving vessels that can hold everything from potato gratin to white chocolate brownies. Off to Market: Christmas Plate

When I was growing up, we had a special Christmas plate that was reserved for serving Santa Claus. Every Christmas Eve, my sister and I would take the pretty plate, place the most perfect cookies on it, and set it out by the tree. To relive old memories, I went looking for the long lost plate. Alas, it was nowhere to be found.

Although I have a love/hate relationship with it, I like to serve the rich, creamy sauce in a delightful little pourer. Party Foul: Serving Drinks in Incorrect Glasses

I recently attended a very crowded party where the caterers ran out of clean serving glasses. When I went to order a second beer, the bartender - to my dismay - poured it into a champagne flute. I looked around the event and noticed chicly dressed PYTs sipping champagne from brandy snifters and white wine from whiskey tumblers!

I love fun glasses as much as the next party gal, but because wine glasses actually enhance and affect the flavor of wine, wine should be served in appropriate glassware. I think the staff should have either washed more glasses or served beer in water glasses and wine in small table glasses.

What do you think? Is it a party no-no to pour drinks into incorrect glassware?

The Bend Fruit Bowl: Love It Or Hate It?

What do you guys think of this interesting, wooden fruit bowl that tdamji recently bookmarked? It's made out of a single piece of birch plywood that can bend to make several different shaped bowls. According to Tdamji, it's both stylish and eco friendly at the same time! I also love how you can change it up. One day it can be inverse and the next day reverse. Imagine all the fun centerpieces you could make. The only thing I'm not sure about is its size. It looks a little big which has got me wondering The Bend Fruit Bowl, do you love it or hate it??

Yum Market Finds: Playful Plates

A few days ago, YumSugar wanted to know what you thought of a set of scenic dinner plates, since then they kept coming to mind, especially while looking through the Yum Market. It seems that she's not the only one who found playful plates. While I wouldn't recommend any of these for everyday use, they would be perfect for a certain dinner or special event. I especially like these Parisian plates that dixierain68 bookmarked. Can't you imagine juicy stuffed roasted tomatoes on these plates? What about the others? What foods do you visualize when you see the plates below?
