Come Party With Me: Campfire Fiesta - The Look

My campfire fiesta won't exactly have decor. After all, hanging streamers and piñatas from the trees is a guaranteed way to get heckled by adjacent campers. But I will be needing provisions and gear - everything from aluminum foil for cooking the marshmallow cream puffs to a cute tablecloth to cover the picnic table.

I've chosen floral oilcloth that's both easy to clean and in keeping with the Mexican-themed meal. I'll also bring some reusable plates and utensils, a portable kitchen sink for washing dishes, and cute citronella candles to keep the bugs away. If you camp with portable iPod speakers, you might want to bring along some glow sticks too, in case a dance party breaks out around the fire ring. Check out my cute and functional finds below.

Come Party With Me: Potluck - The Look

Use rustic, earthy tones to create an inviting table setting for your potluck dinner. Set the table the night before so that you don't have to worry the day of the party. Start by covering the table with a striped tablecloth. Use warm taupe plates and brown napkins held with gold napkin rings. A versatile clear wine goblet works well with both the blood orange punch and wine. Gold flatware makes the mood more festive. Run globe votive holders down the sides of the table and place a low floral arrangement in the middle. Make homemade placecards with twigs and pine needles. Light a fire in the fireplace and let the party begin!

Off To Market: Outdoor Tablecloth

I love eating outdoors. When the weather is gorgeous I can't sit inside at the table and so I move everything outside for my favorite time of the day: dusk. Before the heat arrives, I want to get the outdoor table in my patio courtyard all ready for food and entertaining. I'll have to wash it off and drag the chair cushions out of the depths of the garage. I also want to get a new outdoor tablecloth and thought it would be fun to ask you for help. Yum Market Finds: Splendid Super Bowl Stuff

Browsing the Yum Market is one of my favorite activities at work. Not only do I get to see all of the amazing items you share, but I learn about new and exciting websites. This week I was looking for fun football related finds that can take a Super Bowl party to the next level. Here is what I L-O-V-E:

Crispet1 found this football shaped crockpot that actually functions! How crazy cool is that? I may run to Target the day after the game to see if they are on sale and send one to my sports-fanatical brother (seriously I call his apartment the ESPN zone!) as a half birthday gift.

Worried that all those guys are going to destroy your beautiful kitchen table? Take rubialala's advice and cover it with a bright green football field tablecloth. This could work double duty at a little boy's birthday party as well.

LizaToad's dark whole hazelnut chocolates are perfect for my football shaped candy dispenser. I was looking for a dark brown colored candy to make the clear dispenser appear more like a football and these nutty chocolates are perfect (not to mention they are called Ritter Sport!). Are Tablecloths Too Old Fashioned?

Reader serendipity75 wrote me an email asking a very interesting question: are tablecloths too old fashioned? Now judging by my love for placemats, you all know where I am going to stand on this one... of course tablecloths are not too old fashioned! Sure they run the risk of being grandma-ish but if your table ends up looking like a little old lady, that means you have chosen the wrong tablecloth. When done correctly tablecloths can actually be chic and stylish. For example, when I threw an Argentinean themed outdoor cocktail party last summer, I used tablecloths as a way of uniting the decorations. The tables were of different shapes and sizes, but my tablecloths hid this from the guests. I always put a tablecloth on my table at dinner parties and I have even spent Saturday nights making tablecloths for a party! If you want to protect an extremely nice handmade table, please use a tablecloth. What I love about tablecloths is that if you can't find one in the stores that matches your kitchen/dining room/theme party, you can buy a piece of fabric that does and simply make your own. Setting the table with a tablecloth makes any meal feel more formal and is a great way to slow things down and really enjoy your food. In my opinion tablecloths can really be hip and modern but it's up to you to make them so.How about you? Are tablecloths too old fashioned?

The outdoor eating season is finally upon us! I love summer, the hot weather, and eating outdoors. When the weather is gorgeous, I can't sit inside at the table, so I move everything outside for my favorite time of the day: dusk. Part of prepping for my summer routine is getting the patio dining table 100% ready for entertaining. I want to get a new tablecloth and I asked you to help me find one last week. The tablecloth needed to be durable, colorful, and fabulous. You saved the tablecloths in the Yum Market on TeamSugar with the keyword tag Outdoor Tablecloth. My favorite was discovered by SU3. It's an island reef tablecloth with muted colors that can easily be brightened up with fresh flowers and has a zipper so it can easily fit around my table.

My second favorite, a summery striped tablecloth, was saved by cravinsugar. The fabric is water repellent which is essential to outdoor entertaining.

Finally, I really love this pretty Hawaiian garden tablecloth's colors and distinctive double patterns. What I don't like about it is the white! I never use white tablecloths because they are so easily stainable. However, it's still a great find from Yum Market superstar SU3!
