When it comes to the World Series, it seems everyone is rooting for a different team, but there's one thing that all of America can get behind: free
tacos.
Mexican fast food chain
Taco Bell's "Steal a Base, Steal a Taco" campaign is
back again this year. The promotion, which the
fast food chain first launched last year, gives out free Crunchy Seasoned Beef Tacos to all customers if and when a player from any team during any game captures the first stolen base of the 2008 World Series.

Did you know that today is National
Taco Day? To honor this delicious
Mexican dish — which has found its way into the hearts and stomachs of many Americans — I'm going to test your knowledge of taco trivia.
Think you know tons about this tasty treat?

Take a Tex-Mex vacation with these vegetarian tacos. A simple but flavorful mixture of black beans, corn, fresh zucchini, and prepared enchilada sauce makes a delicious filling. The recipe is incredibly versatile, so feel free to get creative.

On a recent dining adventure, Joe at
Serious Eats passed up the carnitas tacos in favor of a taco filled with
chapulines, a variety of grasshopper that is a prized delicacy in Oaxacan Mexican cuisine. As long as I didn't think about where it came from, the sensual description of the chapulines as "crunchy, nutty, and slightly salty" had me craving one! Are you grossed out by the thought of eating an insect with a crunchy exoskeleton, or does this delicacy appeal to you, too?

Tomorrow the fast-food chain
Jack in the Box is
giving away free tacos. All you have to do is bring in an old gas receipt and Jack in the Box will give you not one, but two free tacos!
The the tacos are free because "it's getting more expensive to fill your gas tank" so they're "giving you a little help with filling your stomach."

Although I love fried fish tacos, when the weather is super-hot, I prefer grilled fish tacos. This recipe for tuna tacos is the perfect dinner on a warm Summer day. The red onions are caramelized and seasoned with chipotle powder, oregano, and red wine vinegar.

With their crisp, crunchy skin and flaky, hot flesh, fish tacos are sublimely delicious. I always order fish tacos out but rarely make them in. To encourage both you and I to experiment with fish tacos at home, I've found two recipes.

I spent a good chunk of this weekend geeking out with geeksugar at the
2008 Maker Faire. While there I noticed a booth called "Secret Eating Society" and told geek she'd know where to find me if we got separated.
The
Secret Eating Society is a group of Bay Area foodie hipsters who are putting out a quarterly journal of adventurous eats.

I love taco trucks. At my old job, there was one I would flock to at any given chance. It seems my taco truck — aka "roach coach" — love puts me in great company.
