While many of us celebrated Memorial Day on Monday, the people of Gloucestershire, England, celebrated a different annual occasion, their infamous Cheese Rolling tournament. In this crazed and unique sporting event, men and women chase an eight-pound cheese wheel down a steep hill. The person who grabs the rolling cheese - which can reach up to 70mph! - before it crosses the finish line wins. The prize for winning the race? The handmade Gloucester cheese wheel. While the race may be all fun and games, each year numerous people are injured as they slip down the hill. To watch a video of this year's cheese rolling, read more.

What Type of Milk Do You Drink?

Got (one percent) milk? The Daily Mail reports that after a British watchdog organization cautioned against excessive intake of saturated fat, sales of one percent milk have skyrocketed in the United Kingdom. The Food Standards Agency warned that whole milk can lead to heart disease and clogged arteries, so shoppers swapped out whole milk in exchange for one percent, which contains more flavor than skim milk. It now accounts for 10 percent of sales.

I'm surprised to hear that people have just started switching from whole milk in Britain, considering whole milk fell out of favor years ago in the States. Do you drink whole milk?

Would Mandatory Cooking Classes Help Childhood Obesity?

In an effort to tackle childhood obesity, secondary school students in the United Kingdom will be given practical cookery lessons. That's right, they're going back to the days of home-ec. They're hoping that basic cooking skills will encourage teenagers to cook their own meals and stop their dependency on processed foods.

The full plan is expected to be announced today by Schools Secretary Ed Balls. There's worry that there will be a shortage of teachers and equipment, but if all goes accordingly, schools that currently offer food technology classes (85 percent of all schools) will have to teach basic cookery skills. The other 15 percent will have to follow suit by 2011.

Tired of Room Temperature Drinks?

Have you ever had a craving for a nice cold beverage, only to realize that the only option is room temperature and there's no more ice? If you answered yes, then you'll be interested to hear about a rumored technological advancement in the beverage world.

According to insiders, a new technology will do away with the need for ice, as once opened, the bottles will be chilled from the inside out. A new drink called Sprite Super Chilled could reach the United Kingdom by next year. They will only be available via special vending machines that regulate the temperature. If successful they could reach our shores in the near future.

I don't know about you guys, but I think this sounds a little bit sketchy, and yet totally fantastic at the same time.
