Animated Anthony Bourdain Stars in Cartoon Show

If you can't get enough of Anthony Bourdain, know that there'll soon be even more to love. The food industry's most opinionated figure is now getting his own cartoon series.

The six-part animated web series, titled Anthony Bourdain's Alternate Universe, will reveal Bourdain's "personal and unique view of the world that lives in his imagination." It's arrived out of thin air, even beating Gordon Ramsay's animated show to the punch. The first line in the trailer below? "If you've ever wondered what really goes on inside his head, you can stop."

Actually, I haven't. I already know the bad-boy chef's tiresome schtick, and it's not nearly as esoteric as everybody thinks it is. In some sort of . . . well, alternate universe, perhaps this cartoon would make more sense. Watch the trailer and share your thoughts after the break.

Sandra Lee Shoots Back at Food Elitists

To promote her appearance as a celebrity volunteer on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, TV chef Sandra Lee chatted with Walletpop about the merits of jarred garlic, premade cosmos, and other random musings. But the Food Network star waits for the end of the interview to leave the biggest takeaway: Being a foodie isn't about snobbery.

"A lot of people think that foodies are this huge, elitist group in the sky that are there to critique and to judge. Can I tell you? If you eat, you're a foodie. If you have an opinion about what you're tasting, that makes you a foodie. Your job in life is to enjoy your life. So whatever makes it easier, faster, and more wonderful, that you can enjoy your life by, God bless you."

After watching Sandra defend her position with poise, I have to say I agree with her. Why are certain subsets of eaters more entitled to make judgments than others? Say what you will about Sandra Lee. She may not be the most popular of cooking personalities, yet she continues to take on her opponents with kindness.

Paula Deen's Awkward Appearance on the View

Food Network host Paula Deen appeared on The View this week to promote her new children's cookbook. Those who caught it know that it wasn't pretty to watch. Put the sassy Paula Deen and the straight-laced Barbara Walters together, and you get an uncomfortable dynamic.

As the ladies of The View sit behind a stupendous spread of fried chicken and other Southern comforts, Paula licks strawberry cake off her fingers and pictures of macaroni and cheese grace the background. Walters then forces the queen of Southern cuisine to answer a rather serious question:

This is a cookbook for kids. Obesity is the number one problem for kids today. Everything you have here is enormously fattening. You tell kids to have cheesecake for breakfast . . . Does it bother you that you are adding to it? No? Not at all?

Stunned, Deen bumbles something about moderation - "you know, we don't eat this every day" - to an unconvinced Walters. But Walters has a point. Not one food item in the supposedly kid-friendly spread could be considered wholesome and healthy. Yet, Barbara comes down hard on Paula. Who comes out on top? What Would Brian Boitano Make? Is Off to an Oddball Start

Question: what would Brian Boitano make? Answer: a pretty ridiculously offbeat cooking show. The Olympic figure skating champion's Food Network series, which was first announced back in April, debuted yesterday, and it was certainly not what I expected.

The skater described his show as "goofy and funny," but that's an understatement. The theme song riffs on the South Park movie's satirical tune "What Would Brian Boitano Do?" and although his cooking skills appear to be legit, recipes are interspersed with hammed-up interludes of Brian biking behind rainbows, lounging in a velvet robe, and running from an animated goat cheese log. He throws out corny lines, like, "I'm gonna holla at my homegirl, my mother from another grandmother." At times, he's hilarious; other moments, trying way too hard. All in all, the show is very uncharacteristic of the Food Network.

The strangest part of the episode was the party's theme. Brian decides to throw a soirée for a bachelor friend and proceeds to round up 15 bachelorettes. The show nears an end when Tony, Brian's pal, turns beet red as he enters a "party" - really, just a room filled with more than a dozen single, dolled-up women.

Video Pokes Fun at Sandra Lee's Most Suggestive Moments

If you haven't gotten enough of Sandra Lee from her new show, Eat Me Daily has discovered a YouTube compilation of Sandra Lee's most memorable quotes which, when taken out of context, sound rather suggestive.

The video reveals Sandy's ridiculous preference for the word "delicious," her affinity for vodka-spiked cocktails, and her mispronunciation of the word "espresso."

My initial reaction was what fanatic has this kind of time on his hands? But my second thought was to hit the play button again as soon as it was over - it's that funny. What do you think of the video - is it an accurate representation?

Bobby Flay Dishes on Cooking With Obama

Audrina Patridge Is New Carl's Jr. Spokesperson

Turns out you don't have to wait for the next season of The Hills to catch more of Audrina Patridge: later this month, she'll be following fellow temptress Padma Lakshmi's lead and starring in a new commercial for Carl's Jr. promoting the chain's Teriyaki Six Dollar Burger.

The Hills regular filmed on location in Malibu, donning a barely there, gold lamé bikini and noshing on burgers while laying on the beach. "It was my first experience shooting a spot with food, and . . . I was literally salivating looking at all the rows and rows of perfect burgers waiting for me," she said.

I'm rather skeptical about burgers being Audrina's "one indulgence." I'll be curious to see if her ad, which airs on June 24 - the same day the burger launches - will be as steamy as Paris Hilton's or Padma's previous Carl's Jr. commercials. Check out the footage below and tell me what you think.

Anthony Bourdain, Alice Waters, & Duff Goldman Talk Food

A week ago, nonconformist food writer Anthony Bourdain, slow food queen Alice Waters, and celebrity pastry chef Duff Goldman took the stage at Food For Thought, a panel discussion that took place in Hartford, CT. There, the three rather different famous food figures discussed, among many other subjects, sustainable food, last meals, celebrity status, and food aphrodisiacs.

Waters made no mention of Bourdain's recent comments about her - in an interview with DCist, he spewed, "Alice Waters annoys the living s**t out of me . . . There's something very Khmer Rouge about Alice Waters that has become unrealistic." While the two got along, they expressed contrasting views on the local and organic food movement. The Chez Panisse founder challenged people to find out where their food comes from: "You can have the hot dog, but . . . I want to know that it's a grass-fed beef hot dog. Where did the bun come from?" Bourdain respectfully disagreed. "As a chef, I’m not your dietitian or your ethicist. I’m in the pleasure business . . . My responsibility is to give you the most delicious tomato that I can afford, given the circumstances, and maybe increase the likelihood that you get laid after dinner.”
