I always have remembered Easter cause I always get a new easter dress every year. Its a sign of spring and spring colors. So for this outfit I have paired this gorgeous Ralph Lauren Skirt with a simple white tank and the easter-licious cardigan in a purple. It is paired with simple gold flat sandals and a white marc jacobs bag and simple jewelry.

I had to write a paper for my english class about the thing i struggle the most with. So naturally i wrote about food. Its not a true story, but parts of it are and its something we can all relate to. Who hasn't cheated on a diet before?

Confessions of a Dieter:

Diet is a word that most women know intimately. It is a word that can inspire hope or fear. A diet can provide inspiration and motivation, for those who have a healthy attitude towards it. I am not one of those people. I feel like I have been on a diet since I hit puberty. For me, dieting is like a religion. It’s a way of life I can keep returning to, no matter how many calories I’ve consumed. Euripides says “Short is the joy that guilty pleasures bring” and I know it. For every time I’ve over-indulged, I’ve shamefully returned to my diet, ready to pay penance for my sins. My penance usually consists of excessive exercise or food restriction.

My most recent sin occurred on Easter Sunday. I had been dieting for a good two weeks, and was eating nothing but raw foods and drinking organic cranberry juice. I had almost become accustom to snacking on baby carrots instead of potato chips. I had lost five pounds and was feeling great. I was working out almost every day and bought myself a new pair of jeans. Two weeks on a diet was an accomplishment for me. Usually they only lasted a week.

Two of my girlfriends, Jennifer and Julie wanted to go out to brunch on Easter. None of us had any family up here, and we all went to school together. We didn’t have anything special planned, so what better excuse than to spend it with friends? It was also an excuse to drink before noon. After all, it’s a holiday, we told ourselves. It’s not like were going to see the Easter bunny. Adults celebrate with food and alcohol.

Jennifer was a robust girl who had always embraced her curves. I never felt like I had to diet around her. Julie was tall and naturally thin. She could eat a horse and never gain a pound. I had always been jealous of her ability to eat carbs and remain a size four. I was always on a diet around her. These were the two best friends to be eating brunch with. I was hoping with both of them there I could eat in moderation.

Sunday morning my alarm was set for 8am. It was early to be waking up on a Sunday, but we had to get there before the church crowd came in. I dragged myself out of bed and stumbled over to my closet. I didn’t have anything to wear that would be considered my Sunday best, so I decided on jeans, a t-sh*t and ballet flats. My sneakers stared enviously at my ballet flats. I felt guilty already. No run this morning.

By the time Jennifer showed up to get me it was almost nine. I was itching to get out of the house. My sneakers had been staring at me for far too long. There’s nothing like waking up early and then having to wait around... I could have squeezed in a quick twenty minute jog in that time, or a shower for that matter, but I didn’t.

Julie was already waiting for us at the restaurant with a table. We spotted her in the corner sipping a mimosa, and she waved us over. As we made our way through the tables, the smell of bacon made me dizzy with delight. Or maybe that was just the fact that I’d been eating raw foods for week. My taste buds had been tortured by eating iceberg lettuce with no salad dressing. I had been depriving myself for too long. My mouth was drooling with anticipation.
We squeezed our way into the corner booth, jeans squeaking against plastic. I could already tell that my jeans would be just a little bit tighter once this meal was over.

I perused the Easter brunch menu that was filled with a delectable assortment of items, each one more tempting than the last. How could I be expected to choose between a pecan crusted French toast and the sweet and savory crepe sampler? If I was going to sin I had to choose carefully.

Our waiter made his way over; he was young and cute. He looked like someone who might go to our school. Jennifer and I both ordered mimosas to start off with. She had the sun dried tomato and goat cheese omelet. It came with a side of hash browns and chorizo sausage. Julie went with the crepe sampler and a side of bacon. By the time he got to me, I still hadn’t decided. Screw it, I thought. I’ll just have a little bit of everything.

As soon as the words left my mouth, I regretted them. “I’ll have the smoked salmon eggs benedict and the cinnamon bread pudding, and can I get that with a side of bacon?” I asked. Should I mention that the benedict came with hash browns on its own? While we were waiting on our food, we all had another round of drinks. Today was a day for indulgence. There was no judgment between us.

Before I knew it our plates had arrived. The waiter set down my little plate of sin in front of me. The smoked salmon was perched delicately atop the crisp English muffin. It was completed by a perfectly poached egg and smothered in creamy hollandaise sauce. I broke the yolk of the egg and took my first bite. For a moment I was in heaven.

But heaven, didn’t last long. By the time we were finishing up, the church crowd started coming in, and the place filled up fast. I started to feel sick. Not because of the plethora of pink and purple dresses surrounding me, but because I had foolishly decided to eat the bread pudding. I should have stopped at the bacon, but I wanted something sweet to finish off my meal. I could feel the bread expanding in my stomach. It felt like it would take over my entire digestive system.

On the way home I unbuttoned the top of my pants in the car. My new jeans were embarrassed to be seen on me. I made my way up the three flights of stairs to my condo. That will be the only exercise I get for the day I thought to myself. The only thing that could help this feeling is either napping or hurling. I didn’t want to hurl, so I decided to try and nap. I was so full that lying down was uncomfortable. I felt like a rolly polly doll.

The next day I questioned if the pain had been worth the pleasure? I felt sick all day and couldn’t stop berating myself. I wanted to start penance immediately and go out for a run. Would my sneakers ever forgive me? I had cheated and deserved to be punished. It was time to return to dieting.

Easter gets more fun every year!

Easter was a lot of fun this year even though I planned for too much. Two days in a row without a nap took a toll on Izzy, but we had fun!

Friday night I went out to dinner with my friend because she's going to miss my b-day party next weekend. So, I ate lots of food and coffee and ice cream!!!

Saturday we did an Easter Egg hunt in the morning with a whole bunch of kids. Super cute! Izzy didn't really get into the hang of it, but that's ok. Later, we went to a community egg hunt and she got into the hang of it lots!
Then we came home and she played on her new slide complex from her Grandma and Grandpa (my in-laws). She was super cute and absolutely loves it!!! I got the dye ready for the eggs!

We were just going to dye them and then let the girls play and then add stickers, but Izzy wasn't having any of that! She wanted to help.

Easter morning we got up and went to church. We had decided to go to the early service because I figured that Izzy would be up and I didn't want to wait around. However, Izzy was not up and I had to get up to the alarm. When I finished getting ready, I saw that Hubby wasn't even up yet! So, I got him up and Izzy and gave Izzy her basket! She loved all the candy and would rather eat that than breakfast! Go figure...a child after my own heart.

We went to church which was fine. I don't normally go to church. I guess I'd be considered agnostic, but whatever. It was Easter. Then we went to breakfast at Panera Bread and then headed to my parent's house for Easter. I went downstairs and took a nap, but Hubby didn't put Izzy down for her nap! Whatever. I guess I didn't tell him to do that so he just didn't. So, she didn't get a nap at all because by the time I woke up, it was almost time for brunch/dinner...She was good though. We hid all the eggs and then my cousins got there and they led Izzy in an egg hunt all over my parent's house!

I found another one!!!

After eating copious amounts of ham and chocolate, we all chatted and had a good time. I was ready to go home after watching the cousins demonstrate their gymnastic ability and I showed them downward facing dog...

Next Holiday? MY 30TH BIRTHDAY!!! This Thursday!

My mom taught me what glamour really is. She couldn't afford to buy new shoes. But every year we would get dressed up for Easter brunch, go to a fancy hotel, and she would strut those five-year-old
pumps like they were Christian Louboutins.
