AROMAS FROM HEAVEN

Want to buy some candles that actually smell up a room and tired of paying over $20 for just one candle? Even though these candles are a little more than I would pay for on a daily basis, I really LOVE these candles. They are all home made and they really smell up a room and last forever. Plus, I guess I am a little bias because the candles that I bought were from an elderly gentleman trying to make some money. He was at the only booth out of the whole entire fair that did not have a fan or an awning and it was at least 80 degrees out. I could tell that he used most of his money to buy himself a spot. This company not only produces high quality, good smelling candles, but they are one of the nicest companies I have dealt with. So, if you are looking for some candles as presents or just would like to buy some candles, check this site out.
A Different Twist on A Classic Dish

RECIPE: LASAGNA ROLL-UPS

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

INGREDIENTS:
8 ounces uncooked lasagna noodles
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 (10 ounce) package frozen chopped spinach, thawed and dried
2 tablespoons minced green onion
1 (15 ounce) container ricotta cheese
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 egg
1 (21 ounce) jar Alfredo sauce
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

DIRECTIONS:
Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add
lasagna and cook for 8 to 10 minutes or until al dente. Rinse
in cold water and drain well. Meanwhile, in a large sauce pan
over medium heat add oil and cook broccoli or spinach and green
onions until tender, stirring frequently. Remove pan from heat
and stir in ricotta cheese, Parmesan cheese, salt and egg.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Place noodles in a single layer
on a sheet of waxed paper. Evenly spread some of the cheese
mixture on each noodle. Roll up each noodle from the short end,
jelly-roll style. In a 8x12 inch baking dish, spoon about 3/4
of the Alfredo sauce on the bottom and spread evenly. Arrange
the rolled noodles, seam side down, in the dish. Top with
mozzarella cheese and remaining sauce. Cover loosely with foil
and bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes or until hot and
bubbly and the cheese is melted. Serve.

Yield: 4-6 Servings

1. Law of Mechanical Repair - After your hands become coated with grease, your nose will begin to itch and you'll have to pee.

2. Law of Gravity - Any tool, nut, bolt, screw, when dropped, will roll to the least accessible corner.

3. Law of Probability -The probability of being watched is directly proportional to the stupidity of your act.

4. Law of Random Numbers - If you dial a wrong number, you never get a busy signal and someone always answers.

5. Law of the Alibi - If you tell the boss you were late for work because you had a flat tire, the very next morning you will have a flat tire.

6. Variation Law - If you change lines (or traffic lanes), the one you were in will always move faster than the one you are in now (works every time).

7. Law of the Bath - When the body is fully immersed in water, the telephone rings.

8. Law of Close Encounters -The probability of meeting someone you know increases dramatically when you are with someone you don't want to be seen with.

9. Law of the Result - When you try to prove to someone that a machine won't work, it will.

10. Law of Biomechanics - The severity of the itch is inversely proportional to the reach.

11. Law of the Theater - At any event, the people whose seats are furthest from the aisle arrive last.

12. The Starbucks Law - As soon as you sit down to a cup of hot coffee, your boss will ask you to do something which will last until the coffee is cold.

13. Murphy's Law of Lockers - If there are only two people in a locker room, they will have adjacent lockers.

14. Law of Physical Surfaces - The chances of an open-faced jelly sandwich landing face down on a floor covering are directly correlated to the newness and cost of the carpet/rug.

15. Law of Logical Argument - Anything is possible if you don't know what you are talking about.

16. Brown's Law of Physical Appearance - If the clothes fit, they're ugly.

17. Oliver's Law of Public Speaking - A closed mouth gathers no feet.

18. Wilson's Law of Commercial Marketing Strategy - As soon as you find a product that you really like, they will stop making it.

19. Doctors' Law - If you don't feel well, make an appointment to go to the doctor, by the time you get there you'll feel better. Don't make an appointment and you'll stay sick.

12 Days of Sharing (Question 11)

One more day after this ladies and gents! Not really a question per se, but you get the gist.

Describe your perfect holiday dinner...

Mine would go as follows...

Appetizers:
Relish tray with my grandma's special dip...i'm not sure what's in it other than cottage cheese, but it's delish!
Those big pickles with the cream cheese and dried beef on the outside. (am i the only one who eats these or knows what they are?)
Deviled eggs

Main Course:
Baked Ham with pineapple
Deep Fried Turkey (i've only had this once but it's awesome!)
Corn casserole
Sweet potato casserole
Homemade mac & cheese
Green Beans & bacon
Mashed potatoes and gravy
Cranberry jelly
Crescent rolls
Broccoli salad

Dessert:
Chocolate crinkles
Pumpkin roll
Puppy Chow
Larry's cupcakes (these are awesome cupcakes from my fav bakery back home)
Any kind of pie...but rhubarb

And last but not least...I'd love to have all my family and friends, sugars included of course, sitting around a big table laughing and having a ball feasting on the delicious meal in front of us. I can imagine us all sitting in a living room with a big fireplace, listening to some Bing Crosby, playing scrabble, chinese checkers, and other board games when the meal is all through. Lovely!

BBC (UK) Country Music Album Review: Brad Paisley - Play

http://www.bbc.co.uk/music/release/qxbd/

It may seem disingenuous to fans of Brad Paisley that he describes this as his 'guitar album'. Anyone who knows the work of the West Virginian knows he's a veritable demon on the six strings. Every one of his five albums has featured at least two blistering instrumentals that combine James Burton twang with Chet Atkins sophistication.

And the former indeed makes an appearance on Play, Paisley's nearly instrumental addition to his catalogue. We say 'nearly' as there are a couple of songs on here; the first single with Keith Urban, Start A Band as well as More Than Just This Song (with Steve Wariner) and, most affecting, the jolly Come On In recorded with the late Buck Owens just before his death in 2006.

But really, the Telecaster is king here. Play allows Brad to really do what he loves: just show off while keeping that grin on his face. And boy, can he play. All styles get served from surf (Turf's Up) to jazz (Les Is More) while of course you get a heaping helping of nifty picking, often leaving the dazed listener feeling like they've stumbled into a chase scene in Hazzard County.

And James Burton? Well, he pops up on the painfully titled Cluster Pluck, along with Vince Gill, Albert Lee and other legends. In the UK Brad's a word of mouth deal. In the States he's huge. Chances are here in the UK we'll never see him. We've been robbed.

2 Ingredient Recipes

My mother is a reader of Woman's Day Magazine (whose recipes I usually love) and she passed on these 2 ingredient recipe cards to me. Sure, some of them are a little odd and I will probably never, ever attempt, but there were a few that immediately grabbed my attention and I can't wait to try out! (Pineapple with coconut sorbet...)

If you want the actually cards to print out and some additional ideas: http://www.womansday.com/food/6577/2-ingredient-recipe-cards.html, http://www.womansday.com/food/6373/none.html

Appetizers

Marinate mixed olives (jar) with freshly grated peel and juice from 1 lemon in refrigerator at least 24 hours.

Halve hard-cooked eggs. Mix yolks with enough reduced-fat basil pesto (tub) to moisten. Spoon or pipe into egg whites.

Serve hot potato puffs (frozen) with horseradish mustard to dip.

Cook fresh asparagus spears in boiling water 4 to 5 minutes. Plunge into ice water; drain well. Wrap with prosciutto.

Skewer chilled, peeled, cooked shrimp. Serve with Thai peanut sauce (bottle) for dipping.

Sprinkle saltine crackers with shredded Parmesan cheese. Toast on a baking sheet in a 375°F oven 8 minutes or until lightly browned.

Hollow out cherry tomatoes. Fill with any flavor purchased hummus.

Spread sliced smoked salmon with chive cream cheese. Roll up tightly; cut crosswise in pinwheels.

Halve hard-cooked eggs. Mix yolks with tartar sauce (jar) to moisten. Spoon or pipe into egg whites.

Wrap sliced prosciutto around wedges of melon.

Top heated mini-crab cakes (frozen) with béarnaise sauce (jar).

Hollow out center of a round loaf Italian bread. Fill with purchased spinach dip.

Spoon deli seafood salad into Belgian endive leaves.

Slow-Cooker

Mix ingredients in a 5- to 5 1/2-qt slow-cooker, then cook on low heat setting.

1 lb hot dogs and 2 cans (16 oz each) turkey chili. Stir in 1/4 cup water; cook 4 to 6 hr.

4 lb country-style pork ribs and 2 cans (28 oz each) barbecue baked beans; cook 8 to 10 hr.

8 skinned, boned chicken thighs (about 2 1/2 lb) and 1 jar (16 oz) light Parmesan Alfredo sauce; cook 4 to 6 hr.

3 lb cubed beef chuck for stew and 2 cans (10 3/4 oz each) condensed vegetarian vegetable soup; cook 8 to 10 hr.

1 pkg (1 1/2 lb) fully cooked appetizer-size turkey meatballs (refrigerated), 2 pkt (1.2 oz each) roasted turkey gravy mix and 2 cups water; cook 4 to 6 hr.

3 lb boneless pork shoulder roast and 1 cup barbecue sauce (bottle); cook 8 to 10 hr.

3 lb cubed boneless lamb shoulder and a 1.8-oz box leek soup mix. Stir in 1 1/4 cups water; cook 8 to 10 hr.

1 lb turkey kielbasa and 2 lb fresh sauerkraut, rinsed. Stir in 1/3 cup water; cook 4 to 6 hr.

4 chicken legs (about 3 lb), skin removed, and a 26-oz jar green and black olive pasta sauce; cook 6 to 8 hr.

4 turkey drumsticks (about 3 1/4 lb), skin removed, and 1 envelope (from a 2.4-oz box) savory herb with garlic soup mix. Stir in 1 1/4 cup water; cook 6 to 8 hr.

Soups & Soup Boosters

Mexican Tomato: Stir salsa (jar) into chilled 8-vegetable juice.

Easy Borscht: Purée pickled beets (jar). Stir in buttermilk until soup consistency.

Swedish Cherry: Purée dark sweet cherries (frozen), thawed, and cherry yogurt. Add water until consistency of thick soup.

Melon: Purée ripe cantaloupe melon. Stir in white grape juice.

Add to canned soup while heating (except where noted):

Chicken-Breast Toppers

Sprinkle skinned and boned chicken breasts with salt and pepper. Lightly coat a large nonstick skillet with cooking spray. Sauté chicken 5 to 6 minutes, turning once until barely pink at the center and an instant-read thermometer inserted from side to middle registers at least 160°F. Remove to a platter; cover. Heat one of the following in the skillet or in a separate pan; spoon over chicken:

Peanut stir-fry sauce (bottle); stir in a little water, if necessary.

Creamy mustard sauce (jar) and water (equal amounts, well blended)

Vodka pasta sauce (jar)

Creamed spinach (frozen)

Citrus salad dressing (bottle)

Mixed citrus sections (jar)

Herbed goat cheese slices placed directly on cooked chicken

4-cheese Alfredo sauce (bottle)

Broccoli in cheese sauce (frozen), thawed

Spoon sundried tomato spread (jar) on grilled slices Italian bread.

Top grilled ham steaks with pepper jelly.

Spoon reduced-fat basil pesto (tub) on grilled, sliced vegetables (such as onion, zucchini and eggplant).

Serve grilled salmon steaks or fillets with olive spread (jar).

Top grilled beef steaks with soft blue cheese.

Snacks

Sandwich shredded cheese between 2 flour tortillas. Heat in nonstick skillet 2 minutes per side or until cheese melts. Cut in wedges.

Wrap a slice of ham around a dill pickle spear.

Spoon pineapple cottage cheese into a lettuce leaf; roll up.

Top toasted Italian bread slices with chopped marinated artichoke hearts (jar).

Spoon nonfat refried beans (can) into bell-pepper wedges.

Desserts

Dip fruit (strawberries, banana slices, orange segments, dried figs or apricots) in melted chocolate.

Scoop vanilla ice cream into a tall glass. Slowly pour in cold root beer. Serve with a straw and long spoon.

Top graham crackers with Nutella (hazelnut spread).

Gently stir raspberry preserves into cubed watermelon.

Process a 10-oz box frozen lite strawberries in syrup and 1/2 cup strawberry yogurt in food processor until smooth. Scoop into ice cream dishes.

Bake fresh plum halves in a 350°F oven 20 minutes or until tender. Top with small scoops of lemon sorbet.

Pour chocolate milk into a dessert bowl. Add a scoop or 2 of hazelnut gelato.

Top fresh blueberries with honey yogurt.

Sprinkle strawberries with balsamic vinegar.

Serve gingersnaps with a tall glass of cold milk for dunking.

Sprinkle cantaloupe wedges with freshly ground black pepper

Top toasted waffles with dulce de leche ice cream.

Sprinkle fresh peach or nectarine halves with brown sugar. Broil until bubbly.

Top grilled fresh pineapple slices with coconut sorbet.

Strawberry Cream Roll

INGREDIENTS
3 eggs
1 cup white sugar
1/3 cup hot water
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup sifted all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup confectioners' sugar for dusting
1 cup fresh strawberries
1 cup heavy whipping cream
1 teaspoon unflavored gelatin
1 tablespoon white sugar

DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Butter a jelly roll pan. Line it with buttered foil or buttered parchment paper.
Beat the eggs until thick and lemon colored. Gradually add 1 cup white sugar, beating constantly. Stir in water and vanilla extract. Fold in flour, baking powder, and salt. Pour batter into tin.
Bake for 15 minutes. It should be springy to the touch, and beginning to shrink away from the sides of the pan.
Lay out a tea towel, and sprinkle it with confectioners' sugar. Turn the jelly roll out on the towel. Take off the paper or foil. Cut away crusty edges. Roll the cake up in the towel, and leave it to cool.
Whip the cream. Add unflavored gelatin and 1 tablespoon sugar. Fold in strawberries. Unroll the cake. Spread with the strawberry cream, and roll up again. Chill. Cover the top with more whipped cream when serving.

Frosted Cranapple Rolls

Frosted Cranapple Rolls
Recipe
Set the dried apples aside. Mix the dough according to directions, using only two cups of water. (Without the apples, the dough will require less water since there will be no apples in the dough to absorb water.) Place the dough in a greased bowl to rise. Allow the dough to rise until doubled.

Melt four tablespoons butter and let it cool until warm. Sprinkle just a slight bit of flour on a clean countertop. Pat the dough flat and then roll it with a rolling pin until it is 3/8-inch thick. Spread the butter on the flattened dough. Mix 1/4-cup granulated sugar with one teaspoon cinnamon and spread the mixture on the buttered dough. Spread the apples and one cup dried cranberries on the dough. Roll the dough up jelly-roll style and cut with a serrated knife into 1 1/2-inch slices. Place in a prepared pan and let rise until doubled.

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Bake until done, about 20 minutes. Remove the rolls to a wire rack to cool.

While the rolls are still warm, mix the frosting and spread it on the tops.

Useful (But Crazy) Beauty Tips That Work

(From Cosmopolitan.com)
"1. Powder Your Roots
If your hairline starts to look greasy, dig up a big, fluffy makeup brush, and dip into a pot of loose powder. Tap it once on the back of your hand to remove excess, then dust it over your roots. It mops up oil and blends into your strands, so no one will know you didn’t shower.

2. Scent Strands With Perfume
Spray a light shot fragrance into the bristles. Run it through strands from roots to ends and your hair will smell amazing throughout the day.

3. Cure Calluses With Vaseline
Slather on the petroleum jelly, and put on socks before bed to dissolve tough calluses overnight.

4. Spot-Treat Smudges
Dip a cotton swab in eye-makeup remover, and trace it along your lids to erase any slip-ups or goofs when there’s not time to redo your whole look.

5. Fix a Flushed Face
If you turn red and stay that way after exercising (like seriously red for hours, even though you’re healthy and hydrated), take an antihistamine like Benadryl when you leave the gym to reduce redness.

6. Soften Your Bod With Avocado
Take a ripe avocado, remove the pit and skin, and mash it up in a bowl. Slather it all over your body, let it sit for 20 minutes, then rinse off. Your skin will be sooo soft- avocado is a natural moisturizer.

7. Super-Glue a Nail
Instead of tearing off your nail when it breaks, put a tiny dab of Super Glue over the split, and paint a generous layer of your favourite nail-polish shade over it. Go for an opaque option (like red, purple, or coral) to camouflage and seal the crack.

8. Use Makeup Remover on Stubborn Lipstick
Don’t try to rub red lipstick (which makes it smear across your mouth-not so sexy). Instead, take a cotton ball or tissue, dip it in makeup remover, and just dab to erase the dark stain fast.

9. Tame Brows With Eye Cream
Pat any kind of rich eye cream over brows to help keep them hydrated and banish those icky white specks that looks like dandruff.

10. Buff With Baking Soda
If you find yourself streaking (not glowing) after applying self-tanner, put some baking soda on a loofah, and scrub away the stripes.

11. Brush On Hair Spray
For the final step of your blow-dry, spray hair spray onto your brush, and run it through strands from roots to tips. This way, your do isn’t so plastered and stiff but still holds volume and shine.

12. Boost Body Lotion With Baby Oil
If you’re craving shiny legs that aren’t greasy, blend a drop of baby oil into your normal body lotion for extra luster.

13. Dab essential Oil on a Hangnail
Put apricot oil, the kind found in health-food stores, to protect cuticles from turning rough and raggedy.

14. Quell a Cold Sore With Cream
When a cold sore is coming on, dab a bit of thick moisturizer, like Aquaphor, over it to prevent it from getting worse.

15. Freeze Your Eyeliner
If the tip of your eyeliner pencil crumbles and smears on your lids, store the liner in the freezer for 15 minutes before use so the tip is firm and goes across your skin smoothly.

16. Use Toothpaste on a Zit
Use just a pea-size amount. Let sit for 15 minutes to absorb the oil so the pimple won’t get more clogged, then wash off.

17. Heat Up Your Curler
If you have stick-straight lashes, try blasting your metal eyelash curler with a hairdryer for a couple of seconds to heat it up so your lashes bend more easily. And use waterproof mascara. The formula dries faster than other mascaras, so it sets the curl more effectively.

18. Use Soap Without Water
You know those fancy bars that are actually too pretty to use? Toss them in your underwear or tee-shirt drawers to make skin smell delicious.

19. Groom Brows With a Toothbrush
Mist an (unused!) toothbrush or eyebrow comb with hair spray to help flatten and tame unruly brows.

20. Put Diaper-Rash Cream on Dry Spots
Slather on a thick layer of diaper-rash cream to heal cracked elbows and feet.

21. Lubricate Your Lashes
An easy way to draw attention to your eyes without putting on a pile of makeup is to comb petroleum jelly lightly through the tips of eyelashes to get sexy, subtle sparkle.

22. Steamroll Flyaways
Spray on hair spray, then roll the can over your strands. The round bottle fits the curved shape of your head, locks in the spray, and flattens out frizz.

23. Spike Lotion With Bronzer
If you don’t have time to book a self-tanning session, mix a few pumps of body bronzer with regular hand lotion and pat it on your legs for a gradual dose of sexy, beachy colour.

24. Air-Dry Your Curls
Let your hair dry indoors before going out in the cold. The curls will be really bouncy and piecey-perfect.

25. Press a Tea Bag on Splotches
If your skin is sensitive or just looking irritated and puffy for some reason, steep a bag of green tea for a minute or two, let it cool down, and dab it over your face. The antioxidants in the tea take down inflammation.

26. Shave With Conditioner
Ran out of shaving cream? Do double duty by coating your stems with a thick hair conditioner. It softens the hair so it’s easier to shave off and makes legs feel amazingly silky.

27. Amp Shine With Vinegar
Mix one part vinegar with four parts carbonated water and soak dry hair. Leave on for 15 minutes before you shampoo to lock in shine and combat dullness.

28. Exfoliate Your Pits
If your underarms start to look dry and flaky, an easy trick is to exfoliate them with a gentle face scrub to keep that skin pretty when going sleeveless.

29.Customize Your Body Lotion
Instead of shelling out for an expensive perfumed body product, you can make your own by pouring a few drops of fragrance into any scent-free lotion. Rub it on- the scent will last for hours.

30. “Brush” With Mouthwash
If you’re too wiped out after a late night of partying to clean your teeth, rinse with water and mouthwash, then use a dry toothbrush on the area where your teeth hit your gums.
31. Make an Egg White Mask
To revive tired, dull skin without hitting the spa table, try this: Crack open an egg in a bowl, separate the yolk, and use the egg whites to make a face mask. The proteins help to heal and restore skin’s moisture. Leave it on for five minutes, and rinse off.

32. Dry Sensitive Skin With T.P.
Instead of drying your face with a scratchy towel, pat with toilet paper- it’s ultra-soft on delicate skin (and bums!)."
