I'm pretty stingy when it comes to sharing recipes, but this one is just too good not to pass along. It actually comes from the "Once Upon a Time in Mexico" DVD. Robert Rodriguez, the director, sort of shows you how to make this recipe.

Sometimes when I'm looking at these homemade beauty recipes, I'm struck by the interesting and unique ingredients that you can find within them. There are just some things that I'm surprised to learn that can be used in DIY beauty products!
So today I thought that I'd share with you some of the recipes that make use of odd ingredients.

Vindaloo Soup - from Penzeys Spices
1 lb bag dry yellow split peas
2-3 quarts water
2 TB Vindaloo Seasoning (Penzeys)
2 TB water
2 Bay leaves
1 small pinch Saffron (15 threads or so)
2 medium onions, minced
1 TB vegetable oil
1/4 cup rice vineger
5 medium to large potatoes, peeled and cut into bite-sized pieces
3 large cooked saugseges, about 1 lb (grilled Polska keilbasa-Polish sausage is very good)
1-2 tsp sugar
2-3 tsp salt
freshly ground Black Pepper to taste
Wash yellow peas well. Place in a soup pot, cover with water, bring to a simmer with bay leaves and saffron. Place Vindaloo seasoning in 2 TB water, let stand while mincing onions.

On Nathan Fillion's myspace page (http://www.myspace.com/nathanfillion) he states that "If it's got batteries and a button, chances are I want it or got it already. Green laser, electric skateboard, switchless automatic pepper grinder. I have no limits to the toys."
