A friend of mine is a huge fan of celebrating special occasions with a big, potluck-style barbecue. But since someone has to get stuck manning the grill, and late-comers are greeted with unappetizingly cold food, she decided to do something a little different for her birthday this year and host a backyard sandwich party. Guests were invited to make sandwiches to share, or to bring chips, beer, or just an appetite for sandwiches.

WASHINGTON (Reuters Life!) - It's remarkably easy to let your budget and your blood pressure go woefully out of control during the holidays. Just peruse this list: cards, gifts, goodies, stamps, travel, parties, tips, champagne, cookies, neighbors, the mailman, wrapping paper, Secret Santas, shipping... need I go on?

I both love and hate the Holidays. They bring folks together but they also create a lot of stress. Plus there are tons of parties which is great, unless you are super busy and you feel obligated to go.

This weekend my friend April was having an appetizer potluck birthday party in the park. I wasn't sure what I was going to make, so I got up early and went to the farmer's market to see if I could find something that inspired me. I ended up getting sidetracked on my way to the market and ended up not having too much time.

These meatballs are great for just about any occasion but since there will be lots of potluck Christmas parties coming up I thought I'd post these now. My hubby also loves these when he has the guys over to watch football. I got this recipe from a gal I work with but hers were for baked beans and I thought the sauce would be great with meatballs too.
