I'm looking for advice on how to plan my sister's bridal shower. My sister Colleen and her fiance Gordon live in Ireland, however their St. Patrick's Day wedding will take place in New York (where all my family is).

Death gives Massachusetts 1st open Senate seat in decades
By Alan Silverleib
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- As Americans paused Wednesday to remember the extraordinary life of Sen. Edward Kennedy, political observers also took note of a rare development caused by his passing.
For the first time in 25 years, the state of Massachusetts has an open Senate seat.

It amazes me how much the media does not report on Obama. Could you imagine what would have happened if Bush had done the same thing? There would be endless video coverage, talk shows making jokes, skits on SNL, etc.

The top of this article at Time.com recaps the controversy over Obama speaking at Notre Dame - this picks up with the Vatican's reaction to Obama thus far:
"This isn't the first time Obama has received decidedly mixed reviews from Catholics. A few months ago, he issued an Executive Order lifting restrictions on federal funding for stem-cell research. The move was immediately denounced by the USCCB as "morally wrong," and even moderate Catholics complained about the way the decision was handled.

by John Romano
When George W. Bush was President, the Democrats and certain press outlets hammered every little mistake he made as evidence of him being “the dumbest President ever.” They did this not to hurt Bush, that was an awesome side benefit. The main intent was to cripple the GOP.

Former President Clinton said Saturday that Democrats calling for his wife to drop out of the presidential race should "just relax" and let the remaining states vote.
Clinton, marching in a belated St. Patrick's Day parade in Girardville, a tiny town in northeastern Pennsylvania's coal region, said it wouldn't be fair to deprive Democratic voters in states like Pennsylvania of the opportunity to vote for the candidate of their choice.

Some of my favorite eating & drinking holidays have fallen on weekdays this year - Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day and now Cinco de Mayo. Kinda dampens the party mood if you have to work the next day.

St. Patrick, the patron saint of all things Irish, has a quite unholy bash every year. Growing up, it was a must to wear green or you would be pinched all day on the playground.
