Weight Watchers...

I have been doing Weight Watchers for about 2 months now and it is great. I have lost 10 lbs and are up to losing about 2-3 lbs a week. The point system is so easy and great for me since I enjoy eating sweets occasionally. I have learned how to eat the same food just in a healthier way. I think anyone that is serious about change and wants to shed some pounds even if it is a small amount....check out Weight Watchers.
Back to Weight Watchers for me!

So last Wednesday I looked up the nearest WW meeting got in my car and went. The meeting went well although I wasn't thrilled with the style of the leader. I may have been spoiled by my old leader and fellow weight watchers (man I miss those ladies!).

Never the less I was motivated......but....I did not do well at all the following days. I know what I need to be doing, I just couldn't seem to get on track.

So today is Wednesday and I skipped the meeting....hang on to the shouting....I am going to try a different one I found that is at a better time for me on Friday. So Ha! I also took the good ol' calender off of the wall and marked out mini goals and where I would like to be month to month. Before that I checked out the university's gym after class. It was nice but they charge students $65 a month to use it, including any classes that I would like to take. It is much cheaper than gym memberships so I think I will fork over the money and start working out. It is wayyyy to cold and snowy to run right now...

So all around a good productive day....you will hear my weight in news on Friday along with daily points soon to follow...

Here's the stats...when I think about it I really don't have that far to go (especially since last time I had 20 more lbs to lose too!)

Height 5'3" (at least thats what they say now a days)
Weight 160.4lbs (soon to change!)
Goal 130lbs
To Go 30lbs
10% goal 16lbs

Here we go again! Cheers for now ladies!
Weight Watchers and the Holidays

Well, since August, I have successfully lost 17lbs with Weight Watchers. Then the holidays struck. It seems like every night is a special occasion to splurge. Whether Auntie June has made her special holiday cookies or the company dinner is serving a gourmet something or other, for those of us trying to continue with this years resolution...it can be challenging.

So far, the only way I have found to keep my weight under control verses out of control is by focusing on the two things I know I can manage: how much water I drink and how keeping track of those pesky points. Keeping accountable to those two things and not allowing myself to through the whole thing out for the holidays has made a big difference. Plus, reminding myself that I can start fresh the next day has also been a big support.

Any other ideas out there for keeping down the bulge to wear that cute Christmas dress?

To Lose and To Maintain

So yesterday I went to a Weight Watchers meeting and a discussion arose concerning which is harder: losing weight, or maintaining your goal weight. As a person who has lost 7 pounds on the program and now has 10 pounds to go before I meet my goal, my weight loss journey probably isn't as great compared to other members. But I think losing 5 pounds can be just as hard as losing 10 or 20 pounds.

Anyways, back to the big topic. Yesterday there were members there who are on the maintenence program and when this discussion came up, people who know both sides --losing weight and maintaining weight--say that maintaining is actually harder. But aren't both hard in their own ways and that the whole thing is just subjective? I'd love to know what you guys think. Thanks for reading!

Product Review: Alli*

In the past 3 months, Glaxo-Smith Kline has been heavily marketing their OTC, FDA-approved weight loss drug, Alli. FitSugar has covered it, Weight Watchers Magazine has reported about it and Jay Leno has cracked jokes about the side effects. I doubt there is a female in the U.S. who has not at least heard mention of Alli lately.

I am not a person who routinely tries every weight loss product on the market. I have never done Slim-Fast or gone nuts at the GNC counter. I tried one of my mom's Dexatrims in high school and shook so bad I thought I was developing a tic. My tried and true weight loss method to which I always return is Weight Watchers. For me, it always works and it's a liveable, healthy, relatively painless process.

When I saw the first commercial about Alli in May, I immediately clicked to FitSugar and found her thoughts. Like most people, I was simultaneously aghast and amused at the side effects. I dismissed it at first. But I continued to do research and read the studies and I read the FDA study.

I made the decision to try Alli in conjunction with WW. I had been off the program for months and ballooned to 170 (I'm only 4'10, so ballooned is an accurate statement). The product comes with several informational booklets about diet, exercise, well-being, product information and a handy journal for recording your meals. You also receive access to their online message boards, online diet/exercise journal, and support from Registered Dieticians and pharmacists.

I've now been on both programs for one week.To date, I have lost almost 7 pounds. I typically lose 3-5 pounds during my first week back on WW, so there is an increase over the norm. I have also added 30 minutes of treadmill walking to the mix, so some loss may be atrributed to that. I don't think I will have an accurate sense of how much help the Alli has been until I've gone a full month on the program.

Everyone's main question is usually: Have you had any side effects? I am happy to report I've experienced nary a problem. Nothing whatsoever. I believe that in following the directions to the letter and combining the product with a low-fat diet and exercise, I've greatly reduced the chance of ever having a side effect.

It's a personal choice to intake anything into your body. Every person has to make their own educated decision. I encourage any person who is interested to do good research and make a decision based on your own comfort with the information. But don't let negativity or fear of negative comments deter you from making the best choice for you. I heard alot of negativity on many sites and I'm happy that I gave it a shot.

*Disclaimer: This is solely my opinion of Alli and I do not purport to be an expert about the medication. I am only reviewing it based on my personal experience.

So far i've lost 9.2 pounds and i'm at the lowest weight i've been in a long time.
