As it happens, I've only read (skimmed) the first book of the series so most of these points are not my own. At the end of this post I'll give you a link to my sources. I've read some pretty interesting articles about whether Edward Cullen is an abusive boyfriend or the perfect boyfriend.

This is a really long article (I tried to hit the high points), but it really shows how prescription drugs are becoming more and more of a problem for teens and young adults. Kids don't need to find a way to buy drugs anymore... they can just go to their parents and grandparent's medicine cabinets to get their fix.

From the blog "Suzy B":
An Ohio woman is suing Planned Parenthood for covering up her sexual assault. According to the suit, the girl was sexual abused by her father and brought to the Mount Auburn abortion clinic when he impregnated her. The Cincinnati Enquirer reports:
"The suit accused Planned Parenthood and five of its employees of ignoring obvious signs of suspected sexual abuse instead of reporting them as Ohio law requires. When questioned by Planned Parenthood employees, the girl told them 'that she had been forced to do things that she did not want to do,' the suit alleges.

DUBLIN (Reuters) - Ireland's president said on Thursday a harrowing report into how Catholic priests and nuns had abused children had not come as a shock after her own convent school experiences. "I had a fair idea it was happening," Mary McAleese said in an interview with state broadcaster RTE. "I was educated by Mercy Nuns, my brothers went to Christian Brothers schools.

US President Barack Obama has said the release of more photos of prisoner abuse by US soldiers is "of no benefit" and may inflame opinion against the US.The pictures were not "sensational" and every case of abuse had been dealt with by the military, with action taken where appropriate, he said.
The White House previously said it would not fight a court ruling ordering the release of the pictures. The pictures were due to be released by 28 May, according to the court order. The order was issued by an appeals court in September 2008, in response to a Freedom of Information Act request by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).

A new GAO report finds that developmentally disabled and emotionally troubled kids have been physically punished and restrained at schools and treatment centers. The report, which came out today, details cases at public and private schools across the nation where children as young as five have been sat on, lashed to chairs, isolated for hours, starved, and humiliated as punishment for actions like "slouching and hand waving." In dozens of cases, these punitive measures resulted in students' deaths.

Donald Trump must really be bored as crap right now. He hasn’t been in the gossip pages – or any pages, really – in quite some time. So what do you do when all you’ve got to entertain yourself is watch your comb over bat around in the breeze?

If there is one thing that is innate to the functioning of a democratic society, it is that every person is legally equal under the law. It is also why Islamic Law or Sharia, is incompatible with a democratic society, because Islamic law presumes the inequality of everyone who is not a Muslim male as a given.
There can be no middle ground of compromise between Islamic law and civil law, because Sharia is not legal, it is religious.
