"A democracy as resilient as ours must reject the false choice between our security and our ideals," President Obama said on April 16, "and that is why these methods of interrogation are already a thing of the past."

From a Crotchety Old Man

Today, we interrupt the constant discussion of politics to vent our spleens at the under-30 generation, and at other random portions of the popular culture who have little appreciation for experience, history, manners and common courtesy, or respectful discourse backed by sustained and developed logic.
For those under 30 who do not merit the criticisms herein -- and there are plenty of them -- please accept apologies in advance: You are not implicated, and you know who you are.
That said….

Ground crews searching for the remains of Steve Fossett say they are trying to determine whether wreckage initially spotted by aerial searchers is the plane piloted by the missing adventurer, who has not been seen since he took off from an airstrip at an isolated ranch in the Nevada desert some 13 months ago.
Searchers in a rugged part of eastern California said Thursday they had spotted what is thought to be wreckage, although Madera County sheriff's spokeswoman Erica Stuart would not reveal the exact location of the reported aerial sighting, the Associated Press reports.
The news comes after hiker Preston Morrow said he found three identification cards bearing Fossett's name and $1,005 cash in a bush just west of the town of Mammoth Lakes.

With the budding blossoms of Spring comes nicer weather and inevitably more travel. If you are familiar with the friendly skies, the idea of surfing the web or watching your own movie while on a five-hour flight may not make up for long security lines, crappy airplane food, and the six inches between your face and the bald head of a sleeping passenger in front of you. Thankfully the peeps over at InsideTrip feel your pain, as well as the pain you may get in your knees from not enough leg room.
