Tropical themed birthday cake for my aunt
For her sake, thank God I love my aunt. This weekend I drove close to 600 miles to get to her house in Florida from my house in northern Georgia to deliver a cake for her 60th birthday. The party was tropics themed, and she wanted a birthday cake to match the decor.

After slaving away at this cake all evening, here is the final result. I've pretty much realized a long time ago that I HATE making children's birthday cakes, they aren't much fun for me, and they usually take more effort than their worth since I don't feel like I can be that creative during the process.

I made this cake this weekend for a young woman's 16th birthday. She drew me a preliminary sketch of what she wanted the cake to look like, with the polka dots and diagonal stripes and a red bow. The bottom tier was a chocolate cake, the middle tier a french vanilla cake, and the top tier was a lemon cake.
