BOSTON - When the clock runs out on 2007, Boston will quietly mark the end of one of the most tumultuous eras in the city's history: The Big Dig, the nation's most complex and costliest highway project, will officially come to an end.
Don't expect any champagne toasts.
After a history marked by engineering triumphs, tunnels leaks, epic traffic jams, last year's death of a motorist crushed by falling concrete panels and a price tag that soared from $2.6 billion to a staggering $14.8 billion, there's little appetite for celebration.

At the end of August, my boyfriend and I will be traveling to Boston for some good old fashioned sightseeing! I've been using what little downtime I have researching for things to do/see, but I figured I might as well ask my trusty Sugars for some advice!
For those of you who have been to or live(d) in Boston, what were some of your favourite things to do and see?

BOSTON - The elegant iron-railing balconies were once catwalks where guards stood watch over the inmates to make sure they didn't try to break out. If you look closely, you can still see the outline of the holes from the iron bars on the windows.
At the newly opened Liberty Hotel, it's hard to escape what this building once was: a decrepit jail where Boston locked up its most notorious prisoners.

This is the new bridge in Boston, the Zakim Bunker Hill Bridge. I love driving on it, I love looking at it and most of all I love taking pictures of it.I took it on a Canon Rebel XTi with the kit lens

Less than a month after Pew Research published its finding that Americans now get more of their news online than from newspapers, the Boston Globe has announced further staff cuts. The slashing of up to 50 jobs from the current full-time staff of 379 will be the fifth major staff reduction for the paper since 2001. The last round came in November of last year when 42 layoffs were announced meaning there has been a 20% reduction in staff over only 3 months.

It always feels good to do things for others. Nothing feels quite as good as donating time to a good cause. Fighting child hunger is as good a cause as any other and Share Our Strength is helping children nationwide with their annual Taste of the Nation where local restaurants offer exclusive tastings to guests along with silent auctions, live entertainment and the local celebrity sighting.
