Maple-Bourbon Pork Medallions
I also like to serve this dish with my favorite cooked pasta (whatever I have on hand at the moment) so I can drizzle extra maple-bourbon sauce all over it. Goes great with a baby spinach salad with mandarin oranges, sliced roasted almonds, and low-fat raspberry vinaigrette.

1 pound pork tenderloin, all visible fat removed
1/3 cup maple syrup
1/3 cup bourbon (recommended: Southern Comfort) or unsweetened apple juice
2 tablespoons whole-grain mustard or Dijon mustard
2 tablespoons ketchup
Vegetable oil cooking spray
Cut pork into 12 slices and flatten each with the palm of your hand to about 3/4-inch thickness.

Who said Christmas cookies had to be sweet and innocent? These are great to bring to a holiday party (keep the kiddies away from them though)! They're also non-bake cookies, so they're very quick and easy!

I recently blogged about how good this bourbon chicken was on my onsugar.com blog. I didn't go into too much details, but felt that the picture spoke a thousand words as they say. I can't offer too much info on where to get it in Chicago, but once my father lets me know( he bought it for me to try), I'll post it in the comment section.

Mashed Old Fashioned East Coast Style
Adapted from a drink by Scott at Perbacco
1 slice orange
1 slice blood orange
2 brandied cherries
1 tsp fine sugar (or small sugar cube)
1-2 dashes of bitters
2 oz bourbon or rye (see note*)
ginger ale
In a chilled old fashioned glass, muddle oranges, cherries, sugar and bitters. Add ice, pour whiskey over it and stir. Top off with a quality ginger ale (this is what Scott says makes it "East Coast").

Well, I do declare! This week's The Office was silly good fun. Distraught over rumors of bankruptcy, Michael suggests that the employees engage in a murder mystery game called Belles, Bourbon and Bullets to keep their spirits up.

You do not want to miss the weekly festival of swooning self-regard and misty incoherence that will be Peggy Noonan's "Study Group" for undergrads this year, during her fellowship at the Kennedy School's Institute of Politics. Let's read the syllabus.
For some ungodly reason, Harvard's Kennedy School of Government saw fit to make Noonan a fellow this year.
