A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith
After reading this book, several people asked me what it was about. I would think for a moment and then reply, "Life."
A Tree Grows in Brooklyn is set in the early 1900s and the main character, Francie Nolan, is growing up poor in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn in the early 1900s.

Heath Ledger's bar, Five Leaves, in the Brooklyn borough of New York City is set to open on Wednesday, almost eight months after the actor's untimely death.
"It's all meant to be a super casual California- and Australia-tinged cafe, coffeehouse and oyster bar, with greenmarket snacks," a critic for UrbanDaddy.com wrote.
With steel light fixtures and "wire concoctions that seem right out of a lab," Five Leaves resembles "a bar that Thomas Edison might have built for his buddies," according to the review.

Victoria Beckham was quite the soccer mom, when she watched Brooklyn play soccer in this weekend.
After a week of showing her Spring 2009 collection, attending fashion week shows and parties, it must have been nice to spend some quality time with her kids.
Look at little cruz in his costume!1 that lil boy loves dressing up!!

So Manu Chao is not the best looking singer out there, but man can he and his band members rile up the crowd!
Yesterday, at the last minute, I bought a ticket off craigslist to a sold out outdoor concert of Manu Chao (for those who don't know him). It was certainly worth it, I danced my butt off, despite the heat and my black work slacks.

Playing Gossip Girl’s Brooklyn boho beauty, Vanessa Abrams, Jessica Szohr has learned a thing or two about accessorizing. “I actually don’t think [Vanessa] can breathe without 8 necklaces or earrings!” Jessica joked to PEOPLE when we caught up with her at a VOGUE Eyewear event in New York City. “My style is much more simple, Vanessa is very funk’defied,” she says about her character’s tendency to pile on the jewels.

Although she made her name as Posh Spice in the Spice Girls, Victoria Beckham was in anything but posh surroundings earlier this month during a two-day trip to Clay County, Kentucky. Visiting on behalf of Save the Children USA and accompanied by her 10 ½-year-old son Brooklyn Joseph, Victoria was on hand to gain a better understanding of childhood poverty in the United States.
By her own account, the trip was both eye-opening and inspirational.

Au Revoir Simone is an electronic indie pop band from Williamsburg, Brooklyn, New York, formed in late 2003. The group is composed of Erika Forster (vocals/keyboard), Annie Hart (vocals/keyboard) and Heather D'Angelo (vocals/drum machine/keyboard). The band's name comes from a line Pee-Wee Herman says to a minor character (named Simone) in Tim Burton's Pee-Wee's Big Adventure.
