Hackney's Inside-Out Burger

(I don't really like how mine came out... I guess I should have used more filling than meat? But it was YUMMY! Instead of plain ole ground beef, I added things like onions and other spices and it was delish!)

Hackney's Inside-Out Burger

8 ounces ground beef
1-ounce cooked bacon, chopped
1-ounce shredded Cheddar
2 tablespoons canola or olive oil
1 hamburger bun, optional

Special tools:
1 round mold (lid to a peanut butter jar or other round container recommended)
1 sheet plastic wrap

Divide ground beef into approximately 2 equal portions. Set aside. Line round mold with plastic wrap. Pat half of the ground beef into the round mold. Layer with cheese and bacon, being careful not to go too close to the edges. Cover with other half of the ground beef. Press down edges of ground beef together to seal. Remove pattie from mold and pan fry over medium heat in 2 tablespoons of oil. Serve plain or on a bun.

Yield: 1

Critics Cringe at Ad for Burger King's Latest Sandwich

By Joshua Rhett Miller
June 30, 2009

An advertisement for Burger King's latest sandwich leaves little to the imagination and should be discontinued due to "distasteful" and unappetizing references to oral sex, advertising experts told FOXNews.com.

The print ad for the "BK Super Seven Incher" - a limited time promotion in Singapore, a society known around the world for its strict government controls of social conduct - shows the "mind-blowing" sandwich near the open mouth of a wide-eyed, red-lipsticked woman accompanied by the suggestive tagline: "It'll blow your mind away."

"Fill your desire for something long, juicy and flame-grilled," the ad continues.

Mark Duffy, a blogger and an advertising copywriter at a major New York City firm, said the advertisement is among the "worst" he's ever seen in more than 17 years of industry experience.

"I've seen a lot of sexual innuendo ads and this is about the worst, especially for something as mainstream as Burger King," Duffy told FOXNews.com. "I was a little repulsed by it. It's really misogynistic to women and it's also unappetizing."

Duffy said it appeared the woman's face in the advertisement had been retouched to make it look like a doll and that the American cheese on the sandwich seemed a little too white.

"It's outlandish," he said. "They obviously didn’t hire a top-notch food photographer."

Duffy, who called on Burger King to terminate the ad, said there's little else marketers could have left to the imagination.

"It's really distasteful on the appetite level and on the social level," Duffy said. "The ad pretty much speaks for itself. How much more do they have to spell it out for you?"

Lauren Kuziner, a spokeswoman for Burger King, said the campaign was produced by a local Singaporean agency and not by the company's U.S. advertising firm, Crispin Porter + Bogusky.

"Burger King Corp. values and respects all of its guests," Kuziner said in a statement to FOXNews.com. "This print ad is running to support a limited time promotion in the Singapore market and is not running in the U.S. or any other markets. The campaign is supported by the franchisee in Singapore and has generated positive consumer sales around this limited time product offer in that market."

Kuziner declined to identify the Singapore-based firm and did not respond to requests for comment on whether Burger King had received complaints in connection to the advertisement.

Meanwhile, Scott Purvis, president of Gallup & Robinson, a marketing and advertising research firm in New Jersey, said the print pitch went "too far" and seemed unusual for a global brand like Burger King.

"This would be the kind of ad you might see for a smaller brand trying to get itself noticed," Purvis said. "It's probably something that wouldn't see the light of day in this country."

Purvis praised Burger King for its advertising "edginess" and he said sex in ads is an effective way to get consumer attention, but he noted that advertisements on average are recalled at a 20 percent higher rate if they contain sexually explicit images or messages.

"But the problem is, the advertisements, as a group are not as persuasive as all advertising," he said. 'It stops and gets people's attention, but they generally don't go further and get any kind of motivation of interest in the product itself."

Previous marketing campaigns by Burger King have included its award-wining "Subservient Chicken" viral video, spots featuring "Whopper virgins" and most recently, an appearance by rapper Sir Mix-a-Lot and SpongeBob SquarePants. Other slogans previously used by the fast food giant include "Have It Your Way" and "It Takes Two Hands to Handle a Whopper."

"They've done some good stuff in terms of helping to break out of the stereotypical type of advertising you often see, but occasionally they seem to go too far and other times they get it exactly right," Purvis said. "And that's what happens with edgy advertising - you just don't know where to draw the line."

Mark Crispin Miller, a professor of media studies at New York University and author of a forthcoming book on the marketing campaign behind the "Marlboro Man," said the ad reeked of a "certain desperation" just to make an impression.

"This is really straining to be dirty," Miller told FOXNews.com. "This is objectionable because it's outrageously exaggerating the pleasure of Burger King. It's not that good, even as food, and therefore nowhere near as gratifying as an orgasm. There's no doubt they intended a double entrendre."

Burgers, Burgers Everywhere

My boyfriend makes amazing burgers on the grill. Instead of serving them with the usual cheddar, lettuce, tomato, and onion, we have different types of burgers that we like to make.

First, the burgers themselves (There's just two of us so adjust the recipe if you have more people):

INGREDIENTS:
1 lb. lean ground beef
2 garlic cloves, minced
worcestershire sauce
salt
pepper
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1 pat of butter PER burger

PREPARATION:
Combine all ingredients, and form patties. Press a pat of butter into the center of each patty and form the burger around it. Grill (or cook in a pan) until cooked to your liking. Serve on whichever rolls you choose

The butter will make the burger amazing. We usually serve with regular old frozen french fries, and, when it's in season, corn on the cob.

Now, for the variations:

WALDORF BURGERS:
When forming the patties, mix in some crumbled bleu cheese. Cook as usual. Melt more bleu cheese on top of the burgers and top with apple slices and cooked bacon.

BACON, AVOCADO, SWISS BURGERS:
Melt Swiss cheese on the top of each burger. Top with cooked bacon and slices of avocado

CALIFORNIA BURGERS:
Melt Monterey Jack cheese on the top of each burger. Top with sliced avocado, bacon, honey mustard, bean sprouts, and French's french fried onions

PIZZA BURGERS:
Melt mozzarella cheese on top of each burger. Top with sauteed onions and marinara sauce (and pepperoni if you want)

Hungry? How about a 134-lb. Burger for $350?

HUNGRY? HOW ABOUT A 134-LB. BURGER FOR $350?

Updated 9:42 p.m. ET, Sat., Feb. 23, 2008
By The Associated Press

SOUTHGATE, Mich. - A Detroit-area restaurant owner believes he has broken the world record for "largest hamburger commercially available."

After 12 hours of preparation and baking, the 134-pound burger emerged Saturday at Mallie's Sports Bar and Grill.

The "Absolutely Ridiculous Burger," made with beef, bacon and cheese, was delivered on a 50-pound bun, The Detroit News and the Detroit Free Press reported. It sells for $350, and orders require 24 hours' notice.

Flipping the burger required three men using two steel sheets.

Owner Steve Mallie told The News he wanted to show that he has the biggest and best burgers.

Authenticating Mallie's claim could take a few weeks. His burger would outweigh the 123-pound burger made last year by Denny's Beer Barrel Pub, of Clearfield, Pa.

There is a SERIOUS lack of HOT FUDGE on that sundae!

5 Ingredient Bacon Burger

Ok, so I changed this recipe up a little. I used turkey instead of beef, skipped the chedder cheese, and added cut up mushrooms to the mix to keep the turkey juicy and flavorful. Well, they turned out awesome!! This is a must try!

5 Ingredient Bacon Burgers with Cheddar and Red Onion Recipe courtesy Robin Miller, 2007

For the bacon burgers:
Cooking spray
1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
6 strips bacon, cooked until crisp in a skillet or microwave and crumbled (I used Center Cut bacon..YUM)
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
4 rounds sliced red onion (about 1/4-inch thick)
4 slices sharp Cheddar (about 6 to 8 ounces total)
4 Kaiser rolls (I used Wheat hamburger rolls)

For the burgers:
Coat a stove-top grill pan or griddle with cooking spray and set over medium-high heat to preheat. In a large bowl, combine beef, bacon, salt, and black pepper. Mix well and shape mixture into 4 patties, each about 1-inch thick. Place burgers on hot pan and cook 3 to 5 minutes per side, for medium.
My burger joints in the MD/PA area!!!!!!!

Well since everyone is telling me how great their burger joints are here are my favey faves in my driving distance. First there is Cheeburger Cheeburger
Oh so delicious
they have the best french fries with cheese and cheeseburgers around bel air! their milkshakes are just soooooo good and huge and you can't leave hungry. They even offer a FRINGS basket for those who can't choose between fries and onion rings. MMMMM BIG FAT JUICY BURGER on a buttered, toasted bun alternating with a seasoned french fry and washed down with a thick chocolate banana milkshake...i could not ask for more!!!

Then there is Five Guys Famous Burgers and Fries
MMMMMM not many options but what they do have is delicious!!!!
Unlike Cheeburger Cheeburger they don't have many toppings or extras as they have french fries, coca cola drinks, burgers, hot dogs, and grilled cheese. What they lack in originality they definitely make up in taste. Big juicy burgers that melt in your mouth and fresh french fries washed down with a cold coke.

Last but definitely not least Fuddruckers
Fixings bar where you can put whatever you want on your burger!!!
This is perhaps my second favorite burger joint following on the heels of Cheeburger Cheeburger. They always use fresh ingredients and I love that you can fix it up yourself at an always fresh fixings bar. I have never been to a Fuddruckers where tomatoes where green or lettuce was brown! Always good and they have a desert area for fresh cookies, rice krispie treats, brownies, milkshakes and sundaes!! Check it out if you are ever around.

Bad Meal From Burger King Cleaned Robert Downy Jr. Of Drug Problems

They always say bad press is good press right? After all, it got Burger King into Iron Man, one of the most sought after movies of 2008.

While Robert Downey Jr. was in the middle of his drug and alcohol addiction, he made a pit stop at Burger King. While there, the food was so bad that it caused him to reevaluate his LIFE.

"I have to thank Burger King. It was such a disgusting burger I ordered. I had that, and this big soda, and I thought something really bad was going to happen."

According to Britain’s Empire magazine, Downey Jr. proceeded to throw all his drugs into the ocean, resolving to clean up his act then and there.

UNREAL!

You can even see a hint of that fateful moment in Robert's new movie when his character Tony Stark requests a cheeseburger from Burger King after being released from his captors. Robert requested that scene have a place in the film as a tribute to his own life.

http://imnotobsessed.com/2008/06/09/bad-meal-from-burger-king-cleaned-ro...
