Stella McCartney's ad campaign took a look at the more interesting side of the campaigns that have recently surfaced. This was the photographic work of Ryan McGinley behind the camera for the spring campaigns, and he used a watercolor infused background inspired by a Puerto Rican beach featuring Kate Moss and Angela Lindvall, topping it off with obvious, but not showy display of the designer's name across the center.

While her deal with Chanel is, well, a little old, supermodel Claudia Schiffer isn't exactly lacking when it comes to ad campaigns. It turns out Chanel has a new (and younger) blonde muse, the 38-year-old model has two big new campaigns along with an extended contract with another brand. It is said that she's landed a new Dolce & Gabbana campaign with two other girls, and one is rumored to be Mariacarla Boscono, as well as Yves St.

For their campaign, staying true to what the show and collection was all about: dance. Lara Stone, who isn't afraid to flaunt what she's got besides the criticism about her look and body, shows off her ankle brace and model stare while a dancer flocks around her.

The simplistic and refined collection Jil Sander showed for fall has met it's photographic match: this ad. Ditching Lara Stone and keeping Natasha Poly for this was a smart move- more models- or anything else, for that matter would have thrown off this compltely. Looking at this now, it reminds me of what ad campaigns are really supposed to do: reflect the clothes in a positive, but accurate light.

YSL was one of the first of many to announce that they were using supermodels. Claudia had Chanel last season, but this can rival it. This is so YSL: the clothes are tailored and clean, but bold, and it's completely super-sized and dramatic.

The modern Oscar Campaign is a thing of beauty. Much more than “For Your Consideration” ads and glad-handing at Academy screenings, the modern Oscar campaign is about image, press resources, personal narratives, who’s “turn” it is and oh, yeah, the best performance. The past half-dozen years of Oscar campaigning have elicited enough gossip to keep the tabloids in business for a decade.

Time's Ana Marie Cox, in a Bloggingheads discussion [1] with Ann Althouse, does an excellent job of expressing what is still, amazingly enough, the prevailing media view of John McCain: namely, that this deeply honorable and principled man is vehemently opposed to running an ugly, dirty campaign against Barack Obama, and that is happening despite McCain's deep opposition to such campaigns and the way it profoundly violates his code of honor. Cox, who is traveling with the McCain campaign (yet again), first shared a few memories and sentiments about her experiences with the candidate over the years:
When I got on the plane the other day, McCain said hi to me. .

While designers are still sticking to what they know for Fall 09 ad campaigns (Madonna's second round for Louis Vuitton, Versace using Gisele and the same pose again) this is completely extreme: Donna Karan placed Toni Garrn's head on other models' bodies from her fall runway. Economic times are tight, but this is completely cheap, unappealing, and the campaign wouldn't even attract the type of clients the designer would want these days.
