This decadent, gooey, volcanic dessert is guaranteed to get oohs, aahs, and maybe even a few oh yeahs! I'd serve this with cold vanilla ice cream.
Ingredients:
1 16-ounce bag frozen pitted dark sweet cherries, halved, thawed, undrained
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup Kirsch cherry brandy or regular brandy
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
2 ounces bittersweet or semisweet chocolate, chopped
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
2 large egg yolks
1 large egg
2 teaspoons all purpose flour
Powdered sugar
Fresh mint
Method:
Combine cherries with juices, 1/2 cup sugar, kirsch, and cinnamon in heavy medium saucepan.

By popular demand (aka, star and myst!) I'm posting my pictures from Saturday in DC at the Cherry Blossom Festival. The place was jam packed and the crowds were heinous, but the sights were worth it (at least once in your life!).
Washington Monument among the cherry blossoms
Thomas Jefferson Memorial across the Tidal Basin (notice the crowds on the front steps!)
The cherry blossoms surround the Tidal Basin.

Hey KGs! Last week on my site I posted a recipe for a Chocolate Cherry Trifle. I thought it would be fun to share the photos of when I made it here since this is what you girls are all about.

Here is a healthy alternative for all you pasta lovers! The sauce isn’t cooked, so it has a fresher flavor than jarred versions. Use the sweetest cherry tomatoes you can find.

I went to Sephora today and tried this on. I just used it on my lips, but it is sooooooo pretty. I want to buy it as soon as I have some extra spending money.

Cherry Chocolate Ice Cream & Almond Puff Pastry Sandwiches
Modified from Batch Family Mountain and Epicurious
For the ice cream:
1 1/2 cups sliced Bing, Lapin or Sweetheart cherries
1 pint whipping cream
1 pint half and half
2 egg yolks
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup shaved dark chocolate (or to taste)
For the puff pastry:
1 sheet frozen puff pastry (half of 17.3-ounce package), thawed
3 tablespoons sugar
1 cup sliced almonds (I was lazy and processed mine in a food processor)
1 large egg white
Whisk whipping cream, half and half, egg yolks, sugar and vanilla in a mixing bowl until sugar is dissolved. Add cherries and stir. Chill mixture for 30 minutes in freezer.
Meanwhile make the puff pastry: preheat oven to 400°F.
