Here is a healthy alternative for all you pasta lovers! The sauce isn’t cooked, so it has a fresher flavor than jarred versions. Use the sweetest cherry tomatoes you can find.

This herb lends an unexpected hint of mint to bean dishes. For a change, feel free to swap in lowfat feta for the olives.
Serves 4
Ingredients:
3 cups mixed-colored string beans, trimmed
2 1/2 cups cherry tomatoes, halved
1/3 cup pitted kalamata olives
1 clove garlic, finely chopped
1 sprig summer savory, chopped

1/2 tsp red wine vinegar
Directions:
Bring a medium pot of salted water to a boil.

Because I'm always cooking for one, I'm not very into making elaborate dishes. I'm self-taught in all the "cooking" I do and I don't usually invest tons of time in making myself a meal. To me, it's just important that it's healthy and tastes good!

Tonight I experimented with a few different things and was quite pleased with the results. I don't eat refined wheat pasta and like to explore other options beyond whole wheat varieties. Soba noodles are one of my favorite alternatives.

I always like to have good tortillas on hand; with them I can turn virtually any combination of ingredients into a fun and easy meal.
Today I combined steamed zucchini, avocado, cherry tomatoes, hummus, and cilantro in side of an Ezekiel Sprouted Grain tortilla. I pictured it open-faced as well so you can get an idea of what was inside.

Made the garlicky cherry tomato and bread gratin for an evening snack tonight to try it out. It looked better in the au gratin, but I forgot to take a picture then! This recipe is so easily scaled down to one person in an individual au gratin (baked for only 20 minutes).

With the popularity of locally grown vegetables soaring, a new Web site hopes to make it easier for chefs to find farmers in their area — and have produce delivered to their restaurants. The idea behind FarmsReach.com is to provide one-stop-shopping for fresh produce from many farms at once.
FarmsReach launched in San Francisco's Bay Area last spring; its owners plan to expand to seven other regions around the country.

WHEN heirloom tomatoes became popular in the 1990s, Jack Rabin became acutely uncomfortable.
“Everyone was going gaga over them. My farmers were trying to grow them, and we’d walk out in the field and just see horticultural garbage,” said Mr. Rabin, a longtime agricultural extension agent with Rutgers University in New Brunswick, N.J.
