In the second box, there is an exciting new photo contest on Lenzr called Kids in Action that gives anyone with a family a real advantage. The prize is dental supplies for a year and that includes mouthwash, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and dental floss. Two months after they started, the first contests ended on September 1st 2009 and three winners were recognized and rewarded. These members will soon be contacted by Lenzr admin re: delivery of prizes.
Emergency in Toronto had 15 photos and gathered over 300 total votes. The contest was sponsored by Bristall Morgan and offers an Esquire Verve 2020 luxury watch as reward. The winner is mpirra. This photographer's bio reads, 'I have been an amateur photographer for the past 30 years. Would like to go pro one day'. The winning photo, entitled Firefighter saving lives carries the helpful Caption "Toronto Firefighter returning from a fire". This image won the contest with 55 green thumbs up. Emergency in Toronto event was the most rigidly thematic of Lenzr contest cycle #1. The web challenge tasked users to upload images of Toronto's frontline emergency respeonse workers in action and because of the stern criteria it received the fewest votes, but perhaps the most attention. Summer in Toronto had people snapping and submitting shots of anything and everything outdoors in Toronto . The rules were fast and loose to encourage mass participation. This was the most successful contest with 58 pictures uploaded and over 3700 votes. This contest was sponsored by myCELLmyTERMS and offers as reward one smart phone. The winner is Snickerzmom, whose bio reads, 'just me, a great BF and three cats’. She wins the grand prize with a picture of a man (her father?) at the Blue Jays game. Dad at the Game had 112 green thumbs up and the caption may have contributed to the success of this image. Caption "This is one of my favourite pictures of my Dad. Best Toronto Skyline had 46 photos submitted, including some amazing shots with lightning and ducks and vintage shots of the skyline that have all together gathered up over 2500 votes. The Best Toronto Skyline contest was sponsored by Lenzr.com and brought a lot of attention to the site. The prize is a Pentax Optio P90 digital camera. The winner is DuCourt, who describes himself in the third person in his Lenzr.com profile, "Thomas is a long-standing freelance entertainment and audio technician in the Toronto film industry that's attempting to transition into more of an on-set photographer". The photo entitled Looking back is a wonderful panorama shot of the city and bears the Caption 'I took this photo looking back from one of my favorite Toronto hang-outs - THE DOCKS driving range down on Cherry St.' This photo won the prize with 107 green thumbs up.

Photo Contest #4 Ontario Tourist Attractions on Lenzr

There is a fourth photo contest on Lenzr.com for the month of October 2009 and right now there are over forty pictures doing battle.
The winning image thus far is one called Ottawa - The Spider City which has 38 registered votes and a score of 8.4 - its doing really well. This image below is currently in 2nd place. This wonderful vision belongs to mommakoala and is entitled No Pesky Neighbours Here.

Macro Photos of Life photo contest on Lenzr collected over 76 photos which accrued 4021 votes. Sponsored by Shrinkray Mobile, the enterprise specializes in porting business websites into effective in mobile browsers. Shrinkray is a division of Boomboat.com which was established online in 2000. The Shrinkray website comes complete with a mighty boomblog. Smojoe has been taking an offer of free development and free hosting to mobile discussion forums looking for case studies. Comments and Quiz Issues, Contest problems

This is something that I noticed this after the site reorganization that discontinued Citizen and GiggleSugar and introduced TresSugar.

Users of the Sugar network have both TeamSugar and OnSugar accounts, correct? It seems, at least on my account, that both of these accounts are not linked with each other. Some of my comments show up only if I access my Team account and click "see all", others only on the OnSugar account. There is no one place where I can go to see ALL of the comments I have made across the Sugar Network. I have also noticed, as others have, that some of the comments that I believe I have posted never show up on their designated sites OR in the comment record on my account. It's highly irritating to generate a response, press "Submit", and have the comment go into the wild blue yonder.

This disconnection between accounts is particularly problematic when it comes to Quizzes, particularly ones that are for Contest entries.

I can sign into my Team account, go to a site and take a quiz to enter a contest (while logged in) - and will receive confirmation on the Final Results that I have been entered for the Contest. However, if I go to make a comment, or go to another site and come back to that quiz, the site will ask me to log in to my OnSugar account. I log in there, and the quiz will show the first page, as if I had not taken it. If I sign in with OnSugar first, the same thing happens, and I will be prompted to sign in on TeamSugar. What gives?

Isn't there a block on making double entries, as there is on Polls? If I answer a poll, the poll responses will be shown permanently after I contribute. I can't add an additional response to the poll.

Isn't there something like that on the Quizzes? Why is there not a block that will only show my quiz results or just a "completed quiz" page/graphic so that I know that I took the quiz, have been entered for a contest, and don't eliminate myself from the contest by taking the quiz again because I was asked to log in again by OnSugar?

I believe I haven't been properly entered into some contests because of this issue. If someone can shed light on what is going on (or if this is just an isolated problem) and how to fix it, I would appreciate it.

Contestant on Fox reality show commits suicide after getting eliminated

One of the contestants on late-night Fox Reality Channel show “Paradise Hotel 2″ climbed up a tall phone tower and jumped to his death in an apparent suicide after being eliminated. Nathan Clutter, 26, died in what was described in Broadcasting and Cable magazine as a “climbing accident” on October 12, 2006. Police sources tell the Enquirer that an investigation determined that it was a suicide.

Reality TV turned into a deadly reality for a contestant on “Paradise Hotel 2″ who committed suicide after being eliminated from the steamy reality show.

Nathan Clutter jumped to his death from a 100-foot-high cell phone tower, The Enquirer has learned exclusively. Clutter’s family told police investigators that he had recently been depressed - and officials ruled his death a suicide.

But a broadcasting industry magazine reported that the 26-year-old bachelor died in a “climbing accident” and the show’s producer, Fox Reality Channel, is airing episodes in which he appeared with no mention of his suicide.

“Paradise Hotel 2″ follows the romantic entanglements of a group of attractive single men and women living together in a fancy Mexican resort.

Clutter, a sales manager from Phoenix, Arizona, made it through several episodes before being eliminated last September.

The guy was depressed before the show aired, and who knows if he would have taken his life if he wasn’t on that stupid reality show. You would think they would try and screen people properly to make sure they can handle the they way they’re forced into stupid situations and portrayed as stereotypes for the sake of cheap entertainment.

I fast-forwarded through the “webisodes” available on the Paradise Hotel 2 website, and the situations involve such riveting and original events as guys doing body shots off a chick in a little bikini, and a guy trying to convince a female contestant to give him a hand job. Those night vision sex scenes are so titillating.

The only time I saw this guy Nathan was in a group scene at the bar about half-way through the third webisode. The online episodes are mostly narrated by the grating host, who fills us in on who hooked up and fought with whom and all the stupid details like some chick rubbing her face in another woman’s breasts. From what I could tell Nathan didn’t figure it any of the hookups or problems between contestants as he was barely mentioned. He seems to have wisely kept a low profile on the show.

People generally know what they’re getting into as a reality show contestant, but it does seem like they’re incredibly manipulated and used for those shows, and it must be difficult to deal with if you’re already depressed. Many of them willingly make asses of themselves, but others might just be trying to further careers or get some money or exposure. The producers should do both a thorough psychological screening as well as arrange for exit counseling for the contestants, but it’s doubtful they did either in this instance.

The Paradise Hotel 2 website has a brief mention of Nathan’s death under his bio. It reads:

As Paradise Hotel 2 comes to air, we are saddened by the loss of Nathan Clutter, who passed away on October 12 of last year. The cast and crew, as well as Mentorn Productions and the entire Fox Reality Channel and MyNetworkTV families, join Nathan’s loved ones in mourning his loss and we hope that they are able to find some comfort in knowing that he touched everyone he encountered with his thougtfulness and decency.

I wonder if Fox Reality Channel executives had a wreath sent to his funeral.

Miss USA contestant says the person she’d most like to help is Britney Spears

I watched most of the Miss USA Pageant and it looked like it went off without a hitch. Donnie and Marie Osmond hosted, and the show was modern and entertaining enough to add some moderate interest to the outdated beauty pageant fare. Controversial divorcee Heather Mills, fierce Project Runway winner Christian Siriano, and celebrity hairstylist Ken Paves were among the judges. They tried to keep it fresh with backstage footage and off the cuff chats with the judges and contestants, and the music and competition segments were good, but there’s only so much you can do to make a beauty pageant entertaining. There weren’t any technical issues or big slip ups by the contestants.

Judge Christian Siriano added some of his trademark flair to the show. During the unprepared question and answer period, a judge was drawn from a hat to ask each of the top 5 contestants a question. Siriano asked Miss Oklahoma which famous person she’d most like to help to better themselves and she predictably answered “Britney Spears.” Siriano smiled wide, and you know that’s the answer he had in mind as he’s said publicly that he wants to help Britney too. This was one of the less articulate answers by a contestant, which makes it more fun to watch:

“As of right now, I’d like to pick Britney Spears. Because I’d really like to help her with her self confidence and help her believe in herself, and get over whatever she’s going through right now so she can strive on going to the next deal.”

The winner was Miss Texas Crystle Stewart, a 26 year-old African American college graduate and entrepreneur who runs a party planning and motivational speaking company. Her answer during the judges questions was the most well spoken:

Question from Judge #9, San Diego Chargers linebacker Shawne Merriman: “In some countries when you turn 18 you’re required to spend a year in the military. Do you think that should be enforced in our country?”

Miss Texas, Crystle Stewart: “I don’t think it should be enforced. I think you’re talking about the draft in our country. I think it should be a choice. We have people there in Iraq right now fighting for our country and it was their choice and I really appreciate that. It should be a choice.”
