CANNES, France–There are no crystal decanters of blood for Robert Pattinson to sip from, or milky white virgin necks to nibble upon.
Pattinson’s treats, arrayed before him on a glass table shaped like a kneeling Greek goddess, aren’t your typical vampire fare: a bowl of potato chips, packages of green apple mint gum and a box of See’s chocolates imported from the U.S.
The world’s sexiest undead man eschews all the caloric temptations, apologizing as he nips off to another room for a few drags on a Camel Lights cigarette before commencing this interview.

I haven't seen any posts in ths area for quite some time so I hope no one will mind my notes on a recent tasting.
I had the opportunity recently to taste a few of the many good bottles from the 80's and the results were delicious. I tasted an 83 Boyd Cantenac and Prieure Lichine both from Margaux, an 82 Lanessan from the haut medoc and finally an 85 Lynch Bages which is a Pauillac. The bottles had been stored reasonably well and the fills were very good, although the two Margaux had corks which were almost wet to the top and crumbled. Having just found a bottle from 1998 which was leaking in a case of my own, there can be no better advice than to constantly monitor your wines, especially if they are still in a wooden case.
While 82 Bordeaux put Robert Parker on the map (he declared it the wine of the century) and subsequently led the way to his favorable word on any review raising the price of wine, it was fun looking back and seeing what these were all about. Though fortuitously donated by another cellar, I was looking forward to tasting mature wines I had never been able to experience when they were young. Each was carefully standing upright for 4 days and then decanted carefully one hour before serving.

Down with Boring Pinots
Genetic diversity makes for better wine

I‘m a sucker for fall foliage, but San Francisco, where I live, doesn’t get much of a show. So, taking Amtrak from Seattle down to Portland the other day, I was transfixed by the swaths of red, gold, yellow, and orange streaking by the window. As we sped down the line, I wondered why the leaves of one maple turn red while the oak right next to it is a lovely bronze.

If your dad likes to have his liquor in a nice bottle, then this is the gift for him. It's a Ralph Lauren decanter with leather straps. I think it looks very nice and elegant.

Upon arriving in Morocco, I had originally been booked to stay at Riad Monceau located in the Old Souk area, which had been booked via Expedia.com. However, after traveling more than 30 hours, we arrived at Monceau and were told they had no record of our reservation despite the fact that we had our confirmation in hand and I had email confirmation for dinner that evening (booked a month in advance). You can only imagine our panic and our exhaustion; this is not how we anticipated beginning our vacation!

The Daily Mail has a segment from Mariah Carey’s OK! Magazine interview, and when asked whether she’s ready to have a child she said that she hasn’t really thought about it and that “she never wanted to feel violated.” The Mail interprets this as saying that she’s claiming that having a child would make her feel violated, but she also mentioned “childhood traumatic stuff,” and it’s possible she’s saying that she never wanted to feel violated as a child. I couldn’t make up my mind if she actually said children would make her feel that way:
“It’s hard to have kids in this world,” she told OK!

Today I thought I'd focus on roses. No idea why, really, but I've noticed that there are an abudance of beauty recipes out there that involve roses in one way or another, so I thought I'd compile them for you in one easy place!
After all, did you know that...

I found this recipe on the Container Store website - of all places! It's on the webpage of the bottle that they sell (pictured below) that can be used to store the lemon vodka.
No Cooking Required
One of the easiest, prettiest gift recipes we've found.

I whipped up this delicious starter for our Valentines dinner with my brother & SIL. Plain & simple, but always a hit (and it looks simply stunning):
You need:
- 1 round tub of philadelphia cream cheese
- sweet thai chilli sauce
- savoury biscuits (plain salted works fine)
1. Decant the cream cheese into the centre of a plate or chip-and-dip server.
