Furious at the tempest over the Tea Party -- the scattershot citizen uprising against big government and wild spending -- Annabel Park did what any American does when she feels her voice has been drowned out: She squeezed her anger into a Facebook status update.

So yesterday was going really well until the evening run to Crumbs for a cupcake:
Breakfast: Starbucks venti iced green tea (unsweetened) (~40 cal), Starbucks ham, egg & cheese on artisan roll breakfast sandwich (370 cal - better than I thought!)
Snack: Starbucks double espresso con panna (35 cal)
Lunch: St. Dalfour canned tuna & pasta (with veggies) ready to eat (240 cal), Sensible Foods Orchard Blend crunch dried fruit (70 cal)
Snack: Sourdough toast (~185 cal), diet energy drink (~30 cal)
Dinner: Baked salmon, corn, light caesar salad, 4 glasses of wine (2 white, 2 red), and half a Crumbs cupcake (~1150 cal)
Of course, this dinner was after I went to an hour long spinning class (~700 calories burned)... So my total for the day is: 2120 calories.

The cookies are the star of a cookie exchange, so if you're hosting one, be sure to set out plenty of platters. When guests arrive, give them a serving tray and have them arrange their cookies, placing cards with the name of each cookie nearby. Also stock up on takeout containers and cardboard boxes so everyone has a place to put their newfound treats.

Starbucks won't slug it out in ad wars
Coffee chain says it'll take high road
By ANDREA JAMES
P-I REPORTER
McDonald's has erected a billboard in sight of Starbucks headquarters declaring, "four bucks is dumb."
· Earlier: Coffee Smackdown: In new ad drive, Dunkin' Donuts is claiming a taste-test victory over Starbucks
If Dunkin' Donuts' taste test commercials were the schoolyard equivalent of blowing spitballs at the coffee giant from afar, then the latest from McDonald's is like pulling a wedgie.

Cupcake
6 eggs, separated (separate when cold; allow to come to room temp)
3/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
1 cup sugar, divided
3 tablespoon water, room temp
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 cup sifted, all-purpose flour (measure after sifted)
In large mixing bowl at high speed, beat egg whites with cream of tartar until foamy. Add half of the sugar, 2 tablespoons at a time, beating constantly until sugar is dissolved and whites are glossy and stand in soft peaks. Rub just a bit of meringue between thumb and forefinger to feel if sugar has dissolved.
