Ingredients:
16 ounces white mini marshmallows
2 to 5 tablespoons water
2 pounds powdered sugar
½ cup Crisco shortening (you will be digging into it so place in a very easily accessed bowl)
Directions:
Melt marshmallows and 2 tablespoons of water in a microwave or double boiler: Put the bowl in the microwave for 30 seconds, open microwave and stir, back in microwave for 30 seconds more, open microwave and stir again, and continue doing this until melted. It usually takes about 2 ½ minutes total. Place 3/4 of the powdered sugar on the top of the melted marshmallow mix.

Here is a short film with a woman decorating a cake using fondant. She makes it look really easy. Using fondant in cake decorating is a great technique for achieving cakes that look basically flawless.

Per Twinkle's comment in my last cake blog, I decided to post what my knowledge is of marshmallow fondant and wish her good luck in making her own, because when I make it, I always FAIL miserably! :rotfl: I generally just buy mine from a local place in Atlanta, but there are all kinds of places where you can order it online and have it shipped to you :solazy:
Anyway, here is the recipe that I have tried a few times:

And here is a video I found on youtube that may be helpful!
Good luck, and let us know how it turned out if you decide to try it!

I found this video on youtube and thought it might be helpful to those that are interested in learning to cover a cake with fondant. I probably wouldn't use the piping gel method discussed here just because it doesn't sound that appetizing to me. Piping gel is sort of gross.

This is a cake I just made for my boyfriend's birthday. White cake, mocha chocolate filling, covered with thin layer of butter cream and marshmallow fondant. All of the accents are in fondant except for the "grill grates" which I used lollypop sticks.

I made this cake for a sweet lady that loves anything with animal print, glittery or shiny items. This is what I came up with. White cake with butter cream icing, covered in marshmallow fondant.

This is cake is vanilla with butter cream icing. Marshmallow Fondant accents. I'm still having a hard time getting the butter cream perfectly smooth as I would like, but I'm slowly getting better.

Here is a cake I did last month. I have been slacking badly on this site, so I will be posting several today.
This cake was double chocolate with chocolate mousse between the layers, topped with a thin layer of buttercream and Marshmallow Fondant.
