We were supposed to go visit the ILs and take the boys to a Mardi Gras parade last weekend, but everyone has been so under the weather, we decided not to go. To make it up to the boys, I made them a king cake on Fat Tuesday. I figured I'd share it here - it's nothing pretty or fancy but it was good!

Fort Hood Massacre: A Day of Courage and Cowardice
A self-described "devout Muslim" who praised suicide bombers opens fire on brave American soldiers — and most people in the mainstream media insist there is no sign of terror.
November 6, 2009 - by Bruce Bawer
The brave soldiers who were massacred at Fort Hood had trained to fight the jihadist enemy abroad. But they seem to have ended up being murdered by the same enemy on American soil, in a place where they thought they were safe — murdered, apparently, because a series of military and medical officials recognized what was going on with this major and chose to do nothing about it.

FDA Issue definitive statement on Peanut Butter Salmonella - Do not eat Peanut Corporation of America (PCA)
Based on this information, and on the current state of the investigation, the FDA recommends that consumers avoid eating
products that have been recalled and discard them. Because identification of products subject to recall is continuing,
the FDA urges consumers to postpone eating commercially- prepared or manufactured peanut butter-containing products and institutionally-served peanut butter until further information becomes available about which products may be affected. Efforts to specifically identify those products are ongoing.

Mitch Hedberg is my favorite comedian of all time. His style (random non-sequiturs) reminded me of old-school Stephen Wright.
Hedberg sadly died in March of 2005 of a drug overdose.

Honestly, eggnog’s the least of it. In this busy tizzy of a season, it’s the grab-and-go foods you swore off only yesterday--the morning doughnut, the Whopper at the mall, the bag of chips that mysteriously fell into your grocery cart--that get to your hips.
Your choices: 1) Say what-the-hey, splurge, and pray.
