Mansfield Park
The third installment of The Complete Jane Austen series, Mansfield Park, will air this coming Sunday, January 27, 2008 at 9:00 pm (check local listings) on PBS.
Here is a quick synopsis of Mansfield Park: Fanny Price (Billie Piper, Doctor Who, The Ruby in the Smoke) is plucked from poverty as a child and taken to live with relatives at stately Mansfield Park. Surrounded by entitled and vain cousins, Fanny forges a connection with one — Edmund Bertram (Blake Ritson, Inspector Lynley Mysteries).

Northanger Abbey
Tomorrow night (January 20, 2008) Masterpiece presents Northanger Abbey, part of the Complete Jane Austen on PBS. I have not read or seen this Austen classic (shame on me) so here's the synopsis from Masterpiece's website:
Catherine Morland (Felicity Jones, Meadowlands) has an ordinary life and a feverish imagination. When she gets invited to Bath, Catherine is immersed in a world of elaborate balls and handsome men.

The Public Broadcasting Service agreed yesterday to ban its member stations from airing new religious TV programs, but permitted the handful of stations that already carry "sectarian" shows to continue doing so.
The vote by PBS's board was a compromise from a proposed ban on all religious programming. Such a ban would have forced a few stations around the country to give up their PBS affiliation if they continued to broadcast local church services and religious lectures.

Cross your figures for a good adaptation! Persuasion tonight at 9:00 on PBS.
"It's the lunch rush in London, and Sally Hawkins is navigating her way through the crowded (and slow) Tube to get to a quiet place for our interview.

Senator No: Jesse Helms
If you live in North Carolina tune to PBS's UNC-TV at 9 PM tonight and watch the premiere of Senator No: Jesse Helms. I am associated with the filmmaker and some of the images used in the documentary came from the library where my husband works. For those of you interested, Jesse Helms was an arch-conservative North Carolina senator.

About a million years ago I posted this: http://citizen-40.tressugar.com/3092127
Ok, so it was more like 6 months-ish but it feels longer! :)
Anyways, I've been eagerly awaiting the release of the documentary The Way We Get By about the seniors who greet every single plane of troops that takes off or lands at the Bangor ME airport. And guess what!

Not really news... but it's big. And probably one of the better kids shows on the air today.
