WebMD Health News Reviewed by Louise Chang, MDJuly 9, 2008 -- The CDC today warned that people at high risk of severe cases of salmonella infection -- infants, the elderly, and people with weak immune systems -- should not eat raw jalapeno peppers or raw serrano peppers because of the ongoing salmonella outbreak.
"Other persons who want to reduce their risk of salmonella infection can take similar precautions," Robert Tauxe, MD, MPH, deputy director of the FDA's Division of Foodborne, Bacterial, and Mycotic Diseases, said today at a news conference.
That doesn't mean that tomatoes are off the hook.

If you're looking for a meal that's quick and jam-packed with vegetables, this is a great one to try! I love it because it's got a delicious Caesar taste and doesn't make me feel guilty for eating it. Plus, I can pick and choose what vegetables I want in it - always a good thing in my house.

It took me a long time to get used to brown rice, but I really like the nutty flavor it adds to this recipe. I received this recipe from my nutritionist, and I find it particularly flavorful. Tell me what you think.....Is there anything you think you might add?

I'm not sure exactly why, but I have to admit that this recipe intrigues me. It's rare that I have stuffed peppers, but something about the idea that I can make them in a slow cooker just makes me want to rush out, buy the ingredients, and make them right now. The combination looks really delicious, even though I'd probably use red peppers rather than green.

These are soo delicious! and healthy!! I love filling peppers and roasting them in the oven with either great vegetables and olives, or with ground meats and different flavors!

Peppers are the best, and who would of thought, perfect for a serves two dinner. :)
I made these last night without the rice and replaced with pumpkin, yum!

If Pepper's not on your radar yet, they're about to be. That is, if you're into reggae and rock. We're assuming everyone is.

Roasted Red Pepper Dip - Serves 8 as an appetizer
Original recipe from Whole Foods.
Try this alternative to the usual hummus. Muhammara is a delicious Syrian recipe for a spread of roasted red peppers, toasted walnuts and a touch of spice, offset by pomegranate molasses.

Lemon-Pepper Chicken with Marinara over Pasta
This dish is delicious with fresh refrigerated pasta, but be sure to buy the reduced-fat variety. Better yet, try making your own homemade pasta. Yes, it can be time consuming, but the taste is well-worth the wait.
