'tis the season for fantastic food
and can i say how much i absolutely love it when the best thing that i have eaten in recent memory is something that i actually made myself?
granted, that's not the biggest accomplishment ever. because i naturally will know what i expect to enjoy before choosing a recipe.

I am thankfully not making the entire Thanksgiving dinner but will make pomegranate mojitos (it is a tradition), brine the turkey and also attempt a new take on pumpkin pie. I love pumpkin but hate the texture of pumpkin pie, so I have decided to attempt a dessert ravioli with pumpkin filling and some sort of flavored whipping cream. Sort of like a butternut squash ravioli in brown sage butter but for dessert with whipping cream, of course!

Went searching around Los Angeles for a last-minute Halloween costume as I had already used up all the old ones on pre-Halloween parties. Finally after seeing the prices at all the shops I decided to just buy a sailor hat and call it a day. Planning on pairing it with stuff already in my closet ie.

My boyfriend will be leaving for his first tour at the end of the year and we have been avoiding the topic for a long time. Now that it is soon appraching I have taken an interest in doing everything I can to be prepared.
Well, I recently came across USMC gals ( http://www.usmcgals.com/ ), an online community for all those people who have a loved one in the military.

If you've never been to the Gaslamp District in downtown San Diego, then you're missing out. It's one of my favorite places to hang out--friendly with a hip young crowd and lively.

2001 Dolcetto di Dogliani (a red) from the Piedmont Region is fantastic. It's color is deep purple with mouthwatering fruit flavors and a slight acidity. Pair it with pasta, especially homemade ravioli stuffed with argula and goat cheese and you will be in heaven.
