1 wedge Lemon
1 twist Orange
1 1/2 ounces Rum (Dark)
1/2 ounce Lemon Juice
1/2 ounce Triple Sec
2 teaspoons Maraschino
1 teaspoon Sugar (Superfine/Caster or powdered if you don't have superfine)
Place the sugar in a saucer. Rub the rim of a wine goblet with the lemon wedge and dip the glass into the sugar to coat the rim thouroughly, discard the lemon. Place the orange peel spiral in the goblet and drape one end of it over the rim of the glass.

Every weekend I have this little obsession of browsing through the recipes of Bon Appetit, Gourmet, Martha Stewart & Sunset magazines in search for a little inspiration or a recipe that is unique and fun. This Sunday I had a hankering for something Fall, Halloween themed and Sassy. Something that I could easily ship to work to feed my coworkers and something that I could add a personal twist too.
Yo Ho Yo Ho!!!
For my pirate movie night tonight I made these, spiced rum and chocolate cupcakes with carmel cream frosting.

I didn't make the glaze the in the recipe, and I used chocolate pudding instead of banana.
The frosting is made like you would make cream cheese frosting, but I used BelGioioso Dolce Mascarpone instead of cream cheese.
Rum Kiwi Daisy Cocktail
Ingredients:
- 2 oz white rum
- 12 fresh mint leaves
- 2 lime wedges
- 1 Zespri green kiwifruit
- 1/2 oz honey syrup (1 part honey and 1 part water) Garnish: 1 lime wedge
Slice kiwifruit in half and use a spoon to scoop out small pieces into a cocktail shaker. Add mint leaves, lime and honey syrup and muddle to combine. Add rum, and shake all ingredients with ice.
Fruit Sauce for Gift Baskets?
I am planning to include a trio of dessert sauces in my holiday gift baskets this year...a chocolate sauce with rum, a caramel or butterscotch sauce with whiskey and a liquor-infused fruit sauce of some sort. Im dark balkan with a olive skintone. I have a tendency to look a bit grey- (think Orlando Bloom!) I find it impossible to wear nudes and bronzes without looking either corpse like or jaundiced.
