My travels have inspired me many recipes and this spread is one of them. It resembles the shrimp salads you can find in Norway, although a bit thicker, and it's delicious with Swedish crackers as an appetizer or on a bagel for lunch. It's also just as delicious with smoked salmon or crab meat instead of shrimps.

Since moving to Norway, I've been experimenting with open face sandwiches (called smørbrød in Norwegian - which means butter bread). They really are a staple over here. People eat them for breakfast, lunch and at night before going to bed.

My husband and I got really fed up of looking for an apartment, so today we went for a walk around Bergen (Norway) to discover our new hometown. I had been to the port a few times already but always at night, so I always missed the fish market. I had read that the fish market was great, but never thought it would be that great.

SHORTLY before Lynn Sugarman of Teaneck, N.J., bought her summer home in Lake George, N.Y., two years ago, a routine inspection revealed it had elevated levels of radon, a radioactive gas that can cause lung cancer. So she called a radon measurement and mitigation technician to find the source.

My mother is a reader of Woman's Day Magazine (whose recipes I usually love) and she passed on these 2 ingredient recipe cards to me. Sure, some of them are a little odd and I will probably never, ever attempt, but there were a few that immediately grabbed my attention and I can't wait to try out! (Pineapple with coconut sorbet...)
If you want the actually cards to print out and some additional ideas: http://www.womansday.com/food/6577/2-ingredient-recipe-cards.html, http://www.womansday.com/food/6373/none.html
Appetizers
Marinate mixed olives (jar) with freshly grated peel and juice from 1 lemon in refrigerator at least 24 hours.

I had a scrumptious lunch today at an HP press event held at the Dusit Hotel (Makati, Philippines). I'm a little too familiar with hotel food, so this came as a nice surprise. [Sorry the pics aren't too sharp - I used my cameraphone to take them, since I didn't want to call attention to what I was doing.]
Bread roll with butter.
