Yesterday, I had a crummy, stressful day at work. It was one of those days when the higher-ups are freaking out about an impossible deadline at the end of the week, getting everyone else all stirred up and anxious, only to find out later that the deadline is actually two weeks away. It was frustrating and tiring.

Tired of the same ol', same ol'? Almost every Halloween soiree is guaranteed to offer up candy and caramel covered apples. Take the opportunity to serve up something refreshing, fun and super easy to make.

Not really a news-y piece, but I thought it was worth sharing. This is yet another reason why I'll never get a Brazilian.
All Jennifer (not her real name) wanted was a smooth bikini line.

Back on August 21, 2008 I was one of two lucky winners in CasaSugar's Summer Style Contest. The prize was a $500.00 gift card to Crate & Barrel and I was practically torturing myself by pre-shoppping on the Crate & Barrel website since then.
Well the gift card arrived, via FedEx, on Tuesday, September 2, and it was almost like it was burning a hole in my pocket.

I just wanted to share this OUTSTANDING Chocolate Cake recipe I used to make my awesome Halloween Cake with!
I decorated it with a luxurious chocolate frosting all over, sprinkled with some coconut (dyed in 2 drops of food coloring), along with 2 "maizena" cookies dipped in the chocolate frosting for the cake as tomb stones with mini chocolate kisses aligned around the graves, sprinkled with crushed chocolate crackers as the dirt and a cone shaped chocolate glued by the icing on a chocolate frosted maria biscuit as a witches hat!
I swear, I don't think I've ever tasted a cake so chocolatey as this one, so creamy, so pure...!

After a weekend of patching holes, painting walls and installing new baseboards in our guestroom/my office, I was amazed at how many kitchen tools have disappeared into my husband's workshop. We used an old soup ladle to put paint into the roller tray. He has one of my cast-off cake decorating spatulas to smooth plaster on walls.

So I decided to make a meatloaf cake. I used my regular recipe, adding just a few more croutons.
3 Layers is better than one!
