I love me some mashed potatoes, especially on Thanksgiving. The problem is that this dish is usually overloaded with tons of butter and cream, which can be a big problem if you're trying to stay healthy. One way I make my mashed potatoes healthier is by using Yukon Gold or Yellow Finn potatoes instead of the old stand-by, Russet potatoes.

Is anyone else out there using Xylitol as a substitute for sugar? A cardiologist cookbook author suggested that I use it rather than a processed sugar substitute like Splenda - so I did and have never looked back! It tastes and measures exactly like sugar, but has virtually no glycemic index.

I made Yum's insanely good mac 'n' cheese recipe in some ramekins my mother in law gave me for creme brulee. The little tart-size dishes made the meal extra cute, and I substituted bacon for walnuts for extra yumminess. The combo of sharp gorgonzola, crisp apples and rich bacon was so good, literally one of the most delish things I've ever tasted, and I never would have thought of it on my own.

I've been cutting calories and the best substitute for wine I've found is a glass of Calistoga with Lemon Zest Ice. It's pretty easy to do. Basically, you zest lemon or limes or both together and place a little bit in an ice cube tray and fill with water and freeze.

For one thing, he's smart. Scary smart. A student in the West Fork School District in Washington County, he skipped a grade this year, going directly from the third to the fifth.

The Strasbourg ruling caused outrage in the Italian media
The Greek Orthodox Church is urging Christians across Europe to unite in an appeal against a ban on crucifixes in classrooms in Italy.
The European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg ruled last week that the presence of crucifixes violated a child's right to freedom of religion.
Greece's Orthodox Church fears the Italian case will set a precedent.

Hey there, sugars!
I have somewhat recently become totally lactose intolerant... as in, no butter, no cheese, no yogurt...
