I posted this blog quickly today in response to a discussion on the airport security dogs thread. In my rush, I neglected to link it here, and thought you might all be interested. I think it's worth noting that most of these stories seem to be in Minnesota...a conspiracy theorist might say that they're nibbling away at our security measures in what is perceived as an out-of-the-way area, not well covered by national media....

Video: Small Business Insurance
Small business insurance protects you and your company with coverage for claims made for all manner of negligence and lack of reasonable care in the workplace. All businesses can benefit from the wide range of cover offered by many insurers and every responsible company should have in place, a business liability insurance scheme dealing with essential forms of insurance coverage.
Some types of business liability insurance are required by law in the U.K and some types are optional and of course, it is up to each individual company’s risk management team to identify which cover they require as a necessity and which cover their company should require in terms of risk potential.

Dear Savvy,
Today, my manager called me asking me to write up a report about a fellow co-worker. I had mentioned that she was having some difficulties adjusting to the workplace, that she was rude to us, and where she was getting better but that she still often isn't on task. I told her that I would, but I just sat down to write it and have no idea what to say, how to say it, etc.

October deficit bigger than expected
by Ed Morrissey
What better way to kick off Barack Obama’s first full budget year as President than with a deficit that exceeded the White House’s own projections as well as analysts’ expectations? The federal government busted the budget worse than last October by $20 billion with a deficit of $176.36 billion for the month. That used to be considered a decent deficit target … for an entire year:
The federal government kicked off fiscal year 2010 by posting its widest-ever October budget deficit, the Treasury Department said Thursday.

Rachel Maddow transcript:
The new rules for Wall Street and the banks will also create a consumer financial protection agency. So in the same way that regulation keeps off the market things that, when used as directed, have a good chance of killing you, things like long darts, or cars with the fuel tank right next to the bumper.
A consumer financial protection agency would keep off the markets, say, really bad mortgages that, when used as directed, are likely to blow up in your face as well.

The "battle of the sexes is over" claims the much-heralded Shriver Report: A Woman's Nation Changes Everything on American work and family life. Go ahead, take a victory lap.
Unless, of course, you're among the millions of women who still earn 23 percent less on average in wages, pay 38 percent more for gender-rated health insurance or fear losing their jobs while trying to juggle disproportionate family responsibilities without flexible work schedules and reasonable family-leave policies.

3.ASSMOSIS: The process by which some people seem to absorb success and advancement by kissing up to the boss rather than working hard.
